IS DRINKING ALCOHOL SIN?

Bible Reading: Proverbs 23:20-35

For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags. Proverbs 23:21

Let us face the fact, the Bible never said alcohol, wine or strong drink is evil or sin. God however condemn the resultant effect of drinking alcohol, drunkenness. As a result of the effect Gods want us to stay clear from strong drink not because if you take it He will throw you into hell or you are no more His child but the effect of drinking it will influence you to sin against God and your neighbor. God has always warned us of over drinking, overeating, and oversleeping resulting in poverty both spiritually and materially. It is the one who seeks God early finds Him. The best is to stay away from it so you will not be tempted. Strong drink brings shame, disgrace, foolishness and poverty. To stop the addiction we have to be very careful of the company we keep. Birds of a feather flock together. Evil companions produce evil. If you have been redeemed by the blood of Christ, you can be free from sin and be sanctified.

Prayer Point: I am delivered from every habit and I am meant to do what I have to do.

NEVER GIVE UP

Bible Reading Proverbs 24:1-15

If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small. Proverbs 24:10

When evil people do wrong things and justify themselves they stand condemned before God. Do righteous people face trouble? The answer is yes. Holy men of God can be sick like any other human being, prayerful men can face marriage problem, childlessness, financial difficulties, death, accident and attack. Not because they sin but because of human factor. As long as we are on earth, you may be right thinking but those around you may not, that will make them to persecute you or your spouse may cause divorce, sometimes we eat what we should not and sickness or death may come. We may not be careful enough and be with wrong friends and relatives who may attack us spiritually. Some troubles are a test of your perseverance in faith. In the midst of all these trouble if you give up when the going is rough, you don’t have what it takes to succeed in life. Trouble times are not there to distract or destroy you but are preparing you for your next assignment.

Prayer Point:  Oh Lord, give me your anointing and power to keep me in time of trials and temptation.

GOD WILL GIVE YOU ANOTHER CHANCE

Bible Reading: Proverbs 24:16-34

For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief. Proverbs 24:16

God does not want His children to fall but when a born again Christian falls, God expects him to repent and keep on serving Him. Sinners does not fall, they live in sin already. Peter fell many times and denied the Lord, but he stood and led the Church. If you are joyful when your enemy falls, God will turn His wrath from your enemy and bless him just to teach you a lesson. Christians are fond of carrying evil report of old believers falling as if they are no more human beings subject to temptation like any other human. Let us not spread evil report. Don’t ever rejoice at someone else’s misfortune. It displeases the Lord. The just man is simply the one who says, “I know I’ve fallen, but I’ve got to keep going to the Lord. I love Him. I need Him. I want to be more like Him.”  Proverbs warned us to fear those in authorities and the Lord. We should not be in Union with those that revolt against leaders in your workplace, church or government.

Prayer Point: Lord, deliver me from falling. Let not my enemy mock at my mistakes.

USE OF APPROPRIATE WORD

Bible Reading: Proverbs 25:1-28

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver. Proverbs 25:11

Right word brings healing and wrong word can break the bones and separate friends. Many marriages have ended because of the use of the tongue. It is better to keep quiet than to talk on issues you know little or nothing about. Forgiving and avoiding issuesfrom escalating is better than proving your point. Sometimes, self defense will not solve problem, look at the problem in different angle and see how you will act if you were in his shoes. Using right word is very important with your friends, leaders and spouse. Inappropriate word stirs anger. Telling someone “you are lying” “I called you but you did not want to pick my call” may not be suitable. Use your low and sweet tone voice to talk in other to win trust and confidence, remember, soft tongue breaketh the bone. Some people have sweet and bitter. When you see their good part you will love them, but if you see the other side you will wonder how unruly they are. He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.

Prayer Point: Lord, deliver me from anger and lack of self control in Jesus name.

YOU CANNOT BE UNDER A CURSE

Bible Reading: Proverbs 26:1-28

As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.

Proverbs 26:2

A lot of Christians run from mountain to valley looking for deliverance, they believe that there is a curse in the family or a witch or wizard is after them. They quickly brand that it  makes them not to get married, have babies, get a job or bad business as a result of the curse in the family or because of a sin they committed. The truth is that a curse without cause won’t harm you. Before a curse can affect you, you must have broken a spiritual law. That is why you should examine yourself and repent of the necessary act that will make a curse affect you. You may ask, what are those law? There are sin unto death and there are sin not unto death. Many Christians that take things for granted. They crucify someone who committed the fornication whereas they do the worst. Thereare things you do, God himself will be the one to curse you. Achan took what he should not take it affected Israel. Bitterness, unforgiveness, anger, misuse of the tongue against God’s prophet has caused more danger to believers.

Confession: Let those who dig a pit to trap me fall into it.

THE DANGER OF ENVY

Bible Reading: Proverbs 27:1-27

Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy? Proverbs 27:4

Envy is considered by God as one of the deadliest sin. The cause of disputes between families, friends, pastors and members is envy. Envy will result to blackmailing, gossips, bitterness and anger. I always discover that people who became envy receive God’s judgment on the long run. If Jealous is ruling your life because you fill someone has and did not support you is an indication you will never succeed in life. The key to overcome anger is to pray for the person to get more or go and bless him. Be careful in anything you are doing. A wise man thinks ahead of what he is about to do if it will hurt people and he avoids it. But the foolish will not reason the consequence of what he is doing and he is punished. Continuous talking will bring no solution, you will just wear yourself off. The other person may apologize just because you were offended not because he was wrong but continue to hurt you in an advanced stage  because he feels at most he will apologize and go away with it.

Prayer Point: I destroy every form of display of envy in my life in Jesus name.

Topic: PRESSING ON TO PERFECTION

Text:     Heb 6:1-3

Memory Verse: Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go unto perfection… Hebrew 6:1a

MARCH TO GLORIOUS PERFECTION: Eph 4:12-13, Col 1:28, 4:12, 1John 4:17

Parents want their children to grow up and God wants His children to grow in knowledge, holiness, Christian character, endurance, usefulness. He called Abraham to perfection and in Christ He made provision for every believer’s perfection. God’s Word is to lead us to perfection (2 Tim 3:16,17) and ministers of the Word are appointed by God and gifted by Christ “for the perfecting of the saints”.

“Let us go unto perfection”, Apostle Paul revealed his resolve to teach the Christians divine revelations of Christ to lead them to perfection. He expected them to learn, pray and experience Christ more so that they would come to the perfection he taught.” Let us go,” he by teaching, they by learning and living. Reaching the destination, demands rising and moving consistently in the right direction.

GOD’S PERMISSION: Rom 15:32, 1 Cor 4:19, 16:7, James 4:13-15

“And this will we do, if God permits”(Heb 6:3). On Apostle Paul’s part, he was determined to minister to the Hebrew Christians, to teach them the “many things hard to be uttered”, to reveal to them the sublime glories of Christ, to give them “strong meat’ and lead them to perfection. Yet he would have to be led of God Who only could remove their “dullness of hearing”. Removal of their dullness of hearing, creating a desire in them to move forward, to go on to perfection, would be a concrete sign that God had permitted Paul to teach them more.

“And this will we do, if God permit”. Our will must be so yielded and surrendered to God that we are willing to do ONLY what God permits by His Word and His Spirit. All the plans of our lives must be surrendered to God for necessary correction, cancellation or confirmation.

THE CALL OF GOD

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 1 Peter 2:9

At one time or the other God called each and everyone of us from different background or circumstances in the world into His marvelous light. In 1 Peter 2:9 the Bible says “..that ye should shew forth the praise of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light” The first call we receive from God is the call to repentance. It is a call from darkness to light. “And he saith unto them, follow me, and I will make you fishers of men” Matt 4:19 God expects us to serve him in truth and spirit. This is an important call that most people are running away from. Whatever you can do to bless the body of Christ is a service to God. The disciples of Jesus responded to His call and they became world changer. It was Paul that called Timothy into the ministry not God. With all the signs and wonders that Elisha demonstrated in scripture it was not God that called him into the ministry, Elijah did. God can use a man to bring you into his purpose for your life.

Question: What is the first call you receive from God?

CONFESSION OF SINS

Proverbs 28:1-28

He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. Proverbs 28:13

The subject of confession of sin has been misunderstood. Sinners are not told to confess their sin. Their job is to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior and repent. This automatically gives them salvation. Christians who are born again are the ones thatcome to God in confession of sins. 1 John 1:9: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” This does not refer to confessing to a minister or spouses or a public confession of sin; confession is between you and the Lord. Trying to appear sinless before your little group of friends is a big mistake. If you boast of your holy life you will be tempted and the grace to overcome will not be there to keep you from failing. If you confess and forsake your sin, you shall have mercy. If you cry let it be as a result of conviction or condemnation. When you ask God for forgiveness He clears the record of your sin.

Affirmation: I receive the power to live holy. The power of sin is broken and victory is mine.

WHERE IS YOUR VISION?

Proverbs 29:1-27

Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

Proverbs 29:18

On one hand when God’s Word is not known and honored, the people misbehave and lack success. The ones who obey the law, that is, the Word of God, are the truly blessed ones. Give quality time to read the Bible and attend mid week services. Listening to God’s word will bring you to a wonderful life on earth. On the other hand if you have no vision you and the people you are suppose to assist or help will lack that opportunity. Ruth made a decision to follow Naomi and serve her no matter the cost, whether in plenty or poverty. This made her to be a celebrity that the whole world is referring to. Orpah had no vision and her destiny ended that way. Judas had no vision of glory and grace coming ahead in the future. He wanted what he will get now not thinking of the abundance coming as an Apostle, he eventually lost everything. Everyone has his own gift, discover your own and pursue it. If you could not discover your vision there are many who would have benefited from it.

Prayer point: Let us pray that God will lead us closer to our vision and purpose of living on earth.

THE EVIL OF SELF RIGHTEOUSNESS

Proverbs 30:1-33

There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness. Proverbs 30:12

Experience has taught me that not does who dressed like angels are the most holy. I have seen Christians that look so gentle and soft tongued but they are too destructive. Just yesterday in our home in Ontario Canada I was telling Pastor Helen that some people who laugh, playful and praise you could be one of the most  dangerous group of people on earth. By the time they vomit the vile in them they are worse than serpent. Be careful with those who flatter you telling you how good you are, praising your dressing or hair, showering how beautiful or kind you are. Mark them, they are looking for some favors from you as soon as they get it they will sting you like serpent. Sometimes you will see the way some people reason somethings as if they are right and you are wrong. They are always right. They blame all others except themselves. Their own benefit is what matters to them, what they will gain from the relationship not what they will give. If they did not get what they expected it will turn to bitterness and fight.

Prayer Request: Lord, deliver me from people who claim to be right but are wicked.

APRIL 11

ALCOHOL IS THE GATEWAY TO DESTRUCTION

Bible Reading Proverbs 31:1-9

Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts. Proverbs 31:6

The ability to judge and to make proper decisions might be impaired by drinking. They might forget right judgment. White wine or any kind of alcohol is not for those who want to be effective in life. The requirement is that strong drink should be given to those who want to perish. The Bible says “Be not among drunkards” Proverbs 21:17 also said He who loves pleasure will be a poor man; He who loves wine and oil will not be rich. The word translated “pleasure” is literally “sport.” If you live for sports and parties, you’ll not be rich. If it’s more important for you to go watch movie than to go for evening Bible studies, to play or watch football or go out with a friend than to attend church service, your soul will be impoverished. If the person you want to marry drinks, quit the relationship, it’s a bad habit. No matter how he or she promised to stop drinking or smoking it will not solve the future problems. It is the resultant effect or danger of taking alcohol that is evil, that is why we should not drink it.

Prayer Point: Lord, deliver me from any addiction that will lead me to perish.

APRIL 12

MAKING RIGHT CHOICE OF A PARTNER

Bible Reading: Proverbs 31:10-31

Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. Proverbs 31:30

Making right choice of whom to marry is a big problem among young Christians. In my days, we pray and wait. Today is a different ball game. They pray a little and look for their style of partners. When they are overdue, they start feeling it’s a curse or an attack, in some other case they would not mind who they would marry, whether an unbeliever or Muslim so long they feel they are married and have children. It is important you pray and wait on the Lord. Don’t force yourself into a relationship as a result of desperation or what people are telling you. Nothing is wrong to make up your mind to marry from a particular tribe or from a particular church but it must be from the Lord. Love and peace of mind is the indication of God’s leading. If this two arelacking and you don’t feel you can live all your life with that individual just forget it.Good character is better than beauty or wealth. Immorality before marriage should be avoided because it is sin.

Confession: I receive WISDOM for direction and taking godly choices in my life.

APRIL 13

THE VANITY OF LIFE WITHOUT CHRIST

Bible Reading: Ecclesiastes 1:1-18

Vanity of vanities, saith the preacher, vanity of vanities, all is vanity. Eccl 1:2

Life is meaningless, hopeless and of no value without Christ.  Life without Christ is like a dead man in the mortuary, yet among the living, but eternally disconnected from the living.  Riches and wealth are good, education and power are expedient and wisdom and knowledge are needful but those that are carried away by it are consumed in it.  No matter your possession, no matter your position in this world you are taking nothing out of it. The only possession you are permitted to take out of this earth is your eternal salvation in Christ Jesus.  If you don’t have it, you are living a wasteful life, you are like a beautiful tree without fruit.  Death is real, eternity is real and they are inescapable.  The question is, how ready are you for them?  Where are you spending your eternity in heaven with Christ, or in hell of everlasting torment?  The choice is yours and it has to be now, not later or tomorrow.  Whatever we are doing on earth today, is a road map to where we are going to hereafter.  Act wisely.

Prayer Point: Lord, give me the grace to follow you to the end in Jesus name.

Topic: CHRIST’S  FAITHFULNESS

Text: Heb 3:1-6

Memory Verse: Jesus Christ who was faithful to Him that appointed  Him , as also Moses was  faithful in all his house Heb 3:2

EXHORTATION TO “HOLY BRETHREN”: 1Thess 5:27, 1Pet 2;9, Col 1:12

“Wherefore, holy brethren , partakers of the heavenly calling…”(Heb 3:1). We are called “brethren” because we belong spiritually to the family of God. These brethren were referred to as “holy brethren” because of their divinely transformed character.”For both He that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one; for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren”. The holy brethren are partakers of the heavenly calling. They are also partakers of the divine nature, having  escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

The exhortation is to consider Christ; that is  to thoroughly think of Christ so as to arrive at a full knowledge of Him. Thoroughly ponder on the dignity, Excellency and  authority of Christ, our failure to consider and meditate on” What He has done” is the reason  for being lukewarm and faithless. We love Him so feebly and trust Him so imperfectly because we do not sufficiently “consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus”

To be strong, faithful and consistent, we must consider Christ, meditate often on Who and What He is, fix our eyes on Him in all circumstances of life.

EXALTATION OF CHRIST:  John 3:34, Matt 16:18, 1 Pet 2:5-7

Christ is “the Apostle and the High Priest of our profession”. The general function of Christ as the Apostle was to make known the will of His Father. Our duty is to hear Him. Jesus Christ is also our “High Priest”. We have already learnt that He is “a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God”. As the Apostle, Christ is God’s representative to His people, as the High Priest, He is our representative before God. As the Apostle He speaks to us from God, as our High Priest He speaks for us to God.

Faithfulness signifies two things: a trust committed, and a proper discharge of that trust. Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ had a trust committed to Him and He faithfully discharged it. Christ’s concern from beginning to end was to be faithful to the One who sent Him. Christ is immeasurably superior to Moses in His person, offices, ministry and work.

AND IT CAME TO PASS

And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings… Matt 19:1

Nothing is as permanent as change. It is a constant variable in life. Everything in this life is subject to change. You were once a child but now you are an adult, that’s change. You were once single but now you are married, that’s change of marital status, everything in this life responds to change. This understanding will teach you patience. The manipulation of Satan over people’s life is just for a short while, it is not eternal. It is only what the Lord has done that last forever. Never allow the devil to make you frustrated. Your situation will not remain forever, it will change. Failure is just a passing phase of our life. That you are not married yet, does not mean that you will not marry. It is just a phase in life. We must understand that we are different and things happen to us differently. That your friend is blessed with a car today does not mean you will have a car today. God’s dealings upon our lives differ from person to person. Quit worrying yourself on other people’s success and appreciate God for your present level and wait for your time.

Question: What do you understand by this phrase “nothing lasts forever”?

APRIL 15

HAVE SELF CONTROL

Bible Reading: Ecclesiastes 2:1-26

And whatsoever mine eyes desired, I kept not from them. I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labour, and this was my portion of all my labour. Eccl 2:10

Self control, self discipline and restrain are spiritually motivated even as inordinate lust for the pleasures of life is spiritually directed.  Every manifestation of man on earth whether good or bad, has its root in the realm of the spirit.  Life on earth is controlled by two parallel or two distinctive spiritual forces, one is of God and the other of the devil.  Man is at absolute liberty to choose which of these forces is to govern his life.  Your choice determines your manifestation and direction on earth.  If you surrender your life to God through Christ Jesus, you receive power to overcome the lustful desires of this world.  For as many as are led by the spirit of God they are the sons of God. There is no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the spirit.  There is supernatural power in Christ Jesus to enable you rule over every situation of life.

Prayer Point: Lord, I receive power to overcome the lustful desires of this world.

APRIL 16

YOUR FUTURE IS GURANTEED

Bible Reading: Ecclesiastes 3:1-22

I know that whatsoever God doeth, it shall be forever, nothing can be put to it, nor anything taken from it, and God doeth it, that men should fear before him. Eccl 3:14

Whatever God has purposed and ordained in heaven touching anything on earth, no man nor any power can change it.  There is no wisdom, no counsel no understanding or imagination against the Lord.  He has the final say in all circumstances of life and death.  He does what pleases  Him in heaven and on earth.  He does not need any body’s advice, not even of your father or mother to do what he has purposed concerning you.  No one can add or subtract from the promise of God over you.  You are what God says you are, you will have what God says you will have, you will get to the level God has purposed for you.  God is not a man that He should lie nor the son of man that He should repent of His word” What He said He will do, He will certainly bring to pass.  The problem at times that causes delay in God’s plan for our lives is that we pay more attention to the devil. When God blesses you, every curse around you disappears.

Thanksgiving: Lord I thank you because my future is guaranteed in you.

APRIL 17

YOUR DESTINY IS NOT DETERMINED BY YOUR BACKGROUND

Bible Reading: Ecclesiastes 4:1-16

For out of prison he cometh to reign, whereas also he that is born in his kingdom, becometh poor.  Eccl 4:14

Destinies are not built or determined by parental, or some socio-economic considerations.  Success or failure in life is not a function of where you are coming from, but a decision rooted and propelled by uncompromising determination and focus to cause change where everything seems impossible.  History has shown that great men and women in this world, up to this generation, did not come from noble backgrounds.  The great men of this world  are a drop of water in the ocean of great men whose backgrounds did not influence their achievement in life. Every man’s destiny is a seed in his heart.  You can be anything you want to be in life.  Don’t allow your background become your captivity, it is a wrong perspective. Change your mentality. Don’t blame anybody for your life.  You have the power to change it. As you act victory is sure.

Prayer Point: I breakthrough in to my God given destiny in the Mighty name of Jesus Christ.

APRIL 18

THE SACRIFICE OF FOOLS IN THE HOUSE OF GOD

Bible Reading: Ecclesiastes 5:1-20

Keep thy foot when you go to the house of God, and be more ready to hear than to give the sacrifice of fools, for they consider not that they do evil. Eccl 5:1

The church is the temple of the living God.  It is a holy ground. When the angel of God appeared to Moses in the bush of Mount Horeb, he asked him to remove his shoe from off his feet. Why? Because the place where he stood was a holy ground.  Many people go to church not to hear the word of God and be blessed, but to play around with friends, moving from one place to another, using their hand sets to disturb the church. They don’t listen to the messages, their minds are set on something different. This problem cuts across every segment of the church. The youths are involved, men and women are not exempted, the ushers, the choir, the security are part of this unholy act. God is warning the church, He is warning me and you. God is saying that our attitude is a sacrifice of fools, a sin before Him. God is angry with the church for turning his house to a “recreational centre”.

Prayer Point:  Lord, give me a change of attitude to honour your sanctuary.

APRIL 19

THE JOY OF PARENTS

Bible Reading: Ecclesiastes 6:1-12

If a man beget an hundred children, and live many years, so that the days of his years be many and his soul be not filled with good, and also that he has no burial, I say, that an untimely birth is better than him. Eccl 6:3

Children are a blessing to every marriage. Though it is not spiritually pivotal to a sustainable marriage, it is the will of God that every marriage should be blessed with the fruit of the womb.  Children are the joy and peace of every marriage.  Many marriages of both the poor and rich have packed up because there was no fruit of the womb.  However, as important and essential children are, the scripture above tells us that if they are not a blessing to their parents it is not worthwhile for the parents to continue to live to see the evil of their children. A child that dishonours his father and mother is heading for total destruction.  The scripture says, “Honour your father and mother which is the first commandment with a promise, that is be well with thee and thou mayest live long on the earth” Eph 6:2,3.    Don’t bring darkness over your life, let your light shine.

Prayer Point: Lord, I asked for your blessings upon my parents in Jesus name.

APRIL 20

FINISHING WELL

Bible Reading: Ecclesiastes 7:1-29

Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof, and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit. Eccl 7:8

Life, whether spiritual or physical, is a race.  The way you plan it and run it determines how you finish it. To finish well in every sphere of life takes a combination of trust in God, hard work and patience.  The way you finish in life, depends on what you want in life.  What you do in life, the kind of company you keep and your adherence to God’s commandments.  As a Christian, how do you want to end your Christian race for a glorious end?  If your end in the race is short of entering the kingdom, then the race needs to be reviewed when there is yet time.  As a business man, what are you doing to end well in that business? Do you pay your tithe in that business so that God’s hand can rest upon it?  As a young man hoping to become a father tomorrow, what foundation are you laying towards that?  What you do today, dictates what you have tomorrow.

Prayer Point: Lord, create in me a humble spirit.

Topic: THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST

Text: Matt 28:1-9

Memory verse: And that He was buried and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures ( 1 Cor 15:3)

OUR HOPE IN HIS RESURRECTION: 1 Cor 15:12-58, 2Cor 4:14, Acts 17:31

Resurrection is the act of arising from the dead and becoming a living again. Only Jesus Christ has done this since the creation of man. Other religions have strong ethical systems, concepts about paradise and afterlife with various holy scriptures. Only Christianity has a God who became human , literally died for His people and was raised again in power and glory to rule His  church forever.

The resurrection gives authority to the church’s witness in the world . Look at the early evangelistic sermons in the book of Acts, the apostles most important message was the proclamation that Jesus Christ has been raised from the dead.

Christian can look very different from one another and they can hold widely varying beliefs about politics, lifestyles and even theology, but one central belief unites and inspires all true Christians is that Jesus rose from the dead. Our hope is that death is not the end but there is future life. The power that brought Jesus back to life is available to us to bring our spiritually dead selves back to life.

THE NECESSITY FOR THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST: Matt 12:38-40, Rom  4:23-25, Acts 2:23-24,31-33.

The  sinlessness  of Jesus Christ  life made it impossible that He should be held by death (Acts 2:24). This is the vindication of the truth of all His claims (John 2:19) to show that God has accepted His redemptive work on our behalf and a sign of God’s total approval. Jesus is more than just a human  leader, He is the Son of God.

The resurrection of Jesus from the dead is the central fact of Christian history, On it, the church is built, without it, there would be no Christian church today. Jesus resurrection  is unique, vital and key to the Christian faith. Just as He promised, Jesus rose from the dead. We can be confident therefore that He will accomplish all He has promised. His bodily resurrection shows us that the living Christ is ruler of God’s eternal kingdom, not a false prophet or imposter. We are certain of our resurrection because He was resurrected.

FORSAKING ALL

And everyone that had forsaken houses, or brethren or sisters, or father, or mother or wife or children or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold and shall inherit everlasting life Matt 19:29

To forsake means to give up something, such as a way of life or a home land, for something better or more appropriate. The disciples of Jesus forsook everything for the sake of the gospel that was the primary reason they were effective in their ministry. Jesus expects us to let go what we have so as to be an effective instrument in his hand. What does it mean to “forsake all”  to the disciples of Jesus, it means stopping their fishing business to answer the call of god. They were determined to follow Him. Some of them forsook their family. It may not necessarily mean stopping your business but giving more preference to God than your business. It means choosing God over your family, it means not allowing anything to come between you and God. No man can serve two masters at a time. There are times you will need to say no to friends just to meet with God.

Question: Explain what you understand by “forsaking all”

APRIL 22

FEAR THE LORD

Bible Reading: Ecclesiastes 8:1-17

Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.  Eccl 8:11

God’s grace, mercy and loving kindness to mankind is not and should not be taken for granted.  It is not a license for spiritual recklessness.  Some Christians live their lives as if God is blind to their deeds.  God knows all our deeds, whether in open or secret. Because God does not bring instant judgment over our evil deeds our hearts are set to do whatsoever we want without fear.  Should we continue in sin for grace to abide? God forbids. There is a day of judgment and punishment for whatever we do on earth.  It is written, “For God shall bring every work into judgment with every secret thing, whether it be good or whether it be evil” (Eccl 12:14). Parents, let us train our children in the fear of the Lord so that when they grow up they will not depart from it.  Over pampering a child is not love.

Prayer Point: Lord, grant us the grace to bring up our child in the fear of the Lord.

BE DILIGENT IN YOUR WORK

Bible Reading: Ecclesiastes 9:1-18

Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom in the grave, whither thou goest. Eccl 9:10

God abhors laziness.  There are people who despise hard work yet want to be millionaires. Such people fall in to the hands of 419ners because they want to get wealth the easy way.  Lazy people will give you many reasons why they are not succeeding.   Stop blaming the economy of the country either because in the midst of the economic situation of the country many are making it in their choice of career. What do you say about people who go to their places of work or business late because they had to sleep extra hours in the morning and or busy doing nothing in the house when in the actual since their colleagues are already several hours ahead of him making cool business.  No matter how spiritual you may be if you don’t put in your best you will get nothing.  Don0.’t be an infidel as a result of your failure to provide for your family.   Whatever you are doing, do it diligently and God almighty will crown your effort with success.

Confession: I will do the work of the Lord while it is day.

DON’T BE A STUBBORN GOAT

Bible Reading: Ecclesiastes 10:1-20

If the spirit of the ruler rise up against thee, leave not thy place, for yielding pacifieth great offenses. Eccl 10:4

The scripture says wisdom is profitable to direct.  In all you do try to apply wisdom.  No matter your position in life you still have people who are ahead or higher than you.  Sometimes you may leave below their expectation and you get punished for your negligence towards your job.  It is not a time to show your leader or boss the stuff you are made of.  Neither is it the time to show how stubborn you are.  If the person in authority is against you or your boss in the office or even your parents, that is the time to be at your best behavours.  It is not a time to put up I don’t care attitude rather be sorry for your acts.  Keep working hard to win back the confidence of your leader.  If he wants you to go one mile please try to go extra mile.  You stand to gain a lot from your leader.  Serve your master diligently and you will enjoy the fruit of your labour.

Prayer Point: Lord, give me right attitude to be at my best behaviour at all time.

APRIL 25

SEED SOWING

Bible Reading: Ecclesiastes 11:1-10

In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand; for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good. Eccl 11:6

It is a natural phenomenon that when you sow, you reap. Failure to sow will leave you without any harvest for it is only a thief that will reap where he did not sow. Seed sowing is one of the kingdoms investment. When you sow in God’s business you reap the dividend thereof.  When you sow, give it time to germinate.  Whenever there is opportunity for you to sow or give to God, do not hesitate, go ahead and give.  There is always a harvest time. We should not be weary in giving.  Be good to all, be generous to the needy.  You give not because they will pay you back but because God Himself will pay you back.  Blessed are they that consider the poor, the scripture says God will remember you in the day of trouble and He will deliver you. Do not say you’ve given too much for God who sees the labour of your love will abundantly reward you and He will not deprive you of any good thing.

Confession: I will sow in tears in other to ripe with joy

THE CONCLUSION OF ALL THINGS

Bible Reading: Ecclesiastes 12:1-14

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter; Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. Eccl 12:14

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.  It is the fear of the Lord that will make you not to go into your neighbor wife and discover her nakedness.  It makes you to live a righteous life. It is the fear of the Lord that makes you keep His commandments. You need to study the word of God regularly to be able to know and keep His commandments.  God’s word must be your priority.  Before you take certain decision you ask yourself, what does the word of God say about this.  Resolve in your heart that what God says to do something you will trust His word and do it whether it is reasonable to you or not.  You do not fear God because He is a wicked God but you adore and reverence Him.  You come before Him with joy and thanksgiving in your heart.

Prayer Point: I receive the grace of thanking God for all His Goodness upon me.

APRIL 27

THE LOVE OF GOD

Bible Reading: Song of Solomon 1:1-17

Because of the savour of thy good ointments thy name is as ointment poured forth, therefore do the virgins love thee. Song of Solomon 1:3

Christianity is characterized by love.  Love for God and love for other believers. He wants you to learn how to love.  That is why He commanded us to love others as we love ourselves.  It was love that propelled God to Send His Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins, so that we can live. How many people can even sacrifice their comfort for others? Selfishness is the order of the day.  Life without love is worthless that is why Paul has this to say in Gal 5:14 “For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself”.  Most people hardly do anything to others when they stand to gain nothing out of their gesture.  Some wealthy men cannot think of helping an innocent girl out of financial problem without thinking of taking her to bed. Be our brother’s keeper.

Prayer Point: Lord make me an instrument of a giver.

APRIL 28

Topic:  CHRIST, THE PERFECT HIGH PRIEST

Text: Heb 5:1-10

Memory Verse: “So also Christ glorified not Himself to be made an High Priest…” Heb 5:5a

PARTICULAR SELECTION BY GOD: Exodus:29:44-46, Num 18:5-7,Matt 3:16,17

The Old Testament high priest was appointed by God, Himself. No one was allowed to run presumptuously into the priest’s office. It was not an office that a man could fill simply because of his own desires or ambition. From the beginning of the priesthood, the priests ministered only by God’s appointment. Aaron the first high priest was particularly selected and appointed by God. He was also miraculously approved by God before the children of Israel (Num 17:1-10).

Christ also was selected and appointed by God to be our High Priest. Though He was Only begotten Son of God, Jesus did not take the position for Himself. He was holy, full of knowledge, mighty and powerful, compassionate, wise, faithful, merciful, prayerful, spiritually qualified in every way, yet He had to be appointed and sent by God.

PERFECT SUBMISSION TO GOD: Isaiah 53:3,11, Phil 2:5-8, 1 Pet 1:21-23

Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, perfectly submitted to the whole will of God. He obeyed and pleased the Father every moment of His life and in every detail. In the Garden of Gathsemane on the night before He went to the cross, Jesus prayed and agonized so intensely that His sweat was as great drops of blood. He cried with strong tears. He prayed to do the will of God and He did it perfectly. In His prayer, Jesus was not asking to be saved from dying on the cross but to be saved from dying of heartbreak before going to the cross.

Now Christ has become “the Author of eternal salvation unto all that obey Him”(Heb 5:9). Gracious obedience (not self-righteous obedience) is the evidence of being in a state of salvation. There is no eternal salvation for the backslidden, blasphemous, rebellious or disobedient, sinning people. Our Saviour and Redeemer is the Author of eternal salvation unto all  that obey Him. May God grant us His all-sufficient grace to always obey Him

UNDERSTANDING IDEAS AND WEALTH

Them had he filled with wisdom of heart, to work all manner of work, of the engrave, and of the cuming workman Exodus 35:35

Idea is a though or collection of the thoughts that’s generate in the mind. It is a little light on the mind about a particular business or on how to create or improve an existing product. There are thousands of ideas that run through our minds on a daily bases. These ideas are great opportunities for creating wealth. The body of Christ must realize that prayer doesn’t make a man rich. One single idea is enough to change your life forever.  TAKE ACTION: It is the ideas we act upon that makes us rich. The days of manna are over. Some of the ideas you refused to act upon is what is making some people wealthy today. Drop your pride and your certificate and start something no matter how little. We can grow to any capacity or height we want if we can act on the ideas that run through our minds everyday. Little idea can change your life and destiny if acted upon. Ideas are the keys to your future. Please lean to write down every idea that comes to your mind. Ideas can originate from anywhere; while reading a book at the market place, at work, while travelling, just anywhere and at anytime.

Question: How do you convert your ideas to wealth?

THE RUDIMENTS OF PRAYER

Bible Reading:  Song of Solomon 2:1-17

For everyone that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Matt 7:8

God is love.  His love makes Him to respond to our needs appropriately.  If your father cannot give you a stone, why did you think God can give you a stone?  God will not give you anything that will become a problem to you.  God is not a wicked God.  Jesus has promised to answer everyone that calls and trusts in Him.  However, some prayers are not answered because of the sinful condition of the person praying.  Doubt, fear, malice, etc are some of the known hindrances to prayer.  Also if you ask amiss, you won’t get the answer.  Your desire should be based on prioritized step.  Selfish motive of asking is a big hindrance. Give God good reasons why you want that blessing.  Motives matter in prayers.  You can ask God to give you money to support the work of God.  Also when we do His will, we get His blessings.  God knows those that will obey Him.

Prayer Point: Lord, pour unto me the spirit of prayer.

APRIL 30

THE VANITY OF LIFE WITHOUT CHRIST

Bible Reading: Ecclesiastes 1:1-18

Vanity of vanities, saith the preacher, vanity of vanities, all is vanity. Eccl 1:2

Life is meaningless without Christ. If you don’t have it, you are living a wasteful life, you are like a butterfly tree without fruit.  Death is real, eternity is real and they are inescapable.  The question is, how ready are you for them?  Where are you spending your eternity in heaven with Christ, or in hell of everlasting torment?  The choice is yours and it has to be now, not later or tomorrow.   Act wisely.

Prayer Point: I must make heaven in Jesus name.

LET EVERYTHING BE AN INSTRUMENT OF PRAISE

Bible Reading: Psalms 148

Praise ye the Lord. Praise ye the Lord from the heavens: praise him in the heights. Psalm 148:1

Everything on earth was called upon to join in the praise of God the Creator. Man was also summoned to praise Him, from rich, poor, single, married, from the mightiest king to the weakest child. When Jesus came to earth, He came unto His own, but His own received Him not (John 1:11, 12). When Jesus was on earth the creation received Him, but man did not. When Jesus walked on earth, the winds obeyed His voice. The sea supported His feet. Even the rocks would have cried out if He had let them. But what did man say? “Away with Him.” We have no king but Caesar” (John 19:15). When He comes back, however, every knee will bow to Him (Philippians 2:10). This is what many believers do today. When Goodluck was in power they said he was bad and corrupt and they wanted a change. They got the change and were still complaining. People who fight their leaders may do worse if they were there. Let us praise God and appreciate Him even if we do not see any miracle from Him as we expected.

Praise God for the gift of life. Thank Him for all the good things He has done for you.

MARCH 2

PRAISE IS A WEAPON OF WARFARE

Bible Reading: Psalm 149

Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a twoedged sword in their hand;

Psalm 149:6

Sing a new song, memorizing Scripture throughout the day, by taking a walk through your neighborhood as you pray. Our fight is not against man but against principalities and powers. How do we overcome the forces of evil? How do we bind the powers that depress, defeat, and discourage us? We overcome the enemy by the praise of God in our mouth and the double-edged sword of the Word of God in our hand. Quit blaming people or authority. Pray for your leaders and pastors. Leaders make mistakes on decision if you do not pray for them. The dynamics of your house, of your neighborhood, of your country can change if we hold on to the Scriptures and if our mouths are filled with praises to God. Praise devastates demons because it reminds them of the position they once held in heaven. In 2 Chronicles 20, we read that the enemies of Israel were so confused by praise that they destroyed each other. I receive more result if I praise God more. Praise God for keeping the enemies far from you. Praise God for sustaining you in difficult times. Thank Him for your health.

Topic: PRESENTATION OF CHRIST’S EXCELLENCIES Part 1

Text: Heb 1:2,3

Memory Verse: I know that Messiah   cometh, which is called Christ: when He come, HE WILL TELL US ALL THINGS John 4:25

CHRIST, THE HEIR OF ALL THINGS: Matt 21:37,38; Mark 12:6,7 Luke 20:13,14

Christ, as the Son of God, is the Heir of all things that God possesses. An heir is one who inherits anything from its possessor, usually his father. Jesus as Heir of God, the Father shows the rank and dignity of Christ as the Son of God, He is possessor or Lord of all things. ‘All things that the Father hath are mine’ (John 16:15).

Everything in existence are all existing  for Jesus Christ. Everything that exists will find its true meaning only when it comes under the full and final control of Jesus Christ. Satan knew this truth when he approached Jesus in the wilderness and tempted Him to take control of the world in the wrong way, by bowing down to Satan. Yet Jesus will rule the world.

When Christ comes to earth again, He will completely and eternally inherit all things. And wonder of wonders that we, who have believed in Him and are truly saved, are   “joint heirs with Christ” (Rom 8:17).

CHRIST, THE EXPRESS IMAGE OF GOD: 2 Cor 4:4, John 14:8-9, Col 1:15-16

Jesus Christ is the express Image of God, that is, God in substance. Christ is the exact resemblance of God. The resemblance between a stamp and the figure which is impressed is exact; so is the resemblance between Christ and God. He ‘’ is the image of the invisible God’’(Col 1:15).

Christ was born as a man but angels adored  Him as God. As a man He ate; yet, by a word, He created food for thousands, like God. As a man He sympathized with the bereaved, like God He spoke and the dead came forth to the land of the living. As a manHe died on the cross and slept in the cold tomb; like God He rose, and brought life and immortality to light. He lived on earth as a man.  He ascended to heaven. Christ is the exact resemblance of the essence of God.

JUDGEMENT IS NEAR

He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy. Prov 29:1

Judgment against evil is not being quickly executed, instead of taking advantage of this to turn to God, most evil workers will remain adamant in their sins until calamity falls on them.  God is merciful but mercy has an expiry date.  We should not take God for granted.  The fact is that wickedness does not pay and there is a day of reckoning for all acts of wickedness.  There is a time of mercy and a time of judgment.  We must seek for mercy at the time of mercy.  Please don’t harden your heart.  Don’t be deceived by the pleasures of sin.   If you trust and wait for God, your blessing will not fail.  Judgmentcan come in different ways.  Most people that live in immoral sins always end up with an STD.  That may be a judgment.  Some addicted drunks have drank themselves to their early graves.  Every sin has its side effects.  There is no secret thing you do that will not be exposed one day.  It is better to expose yourself than to allow your sin expose you.  We need a genuine change of heart.  Let’s return to the Lord now that there is mercy.

Question: What do you do to avoid the judgment of God?

MARCH 4

PRAISE GOD FOR HIS GREATNESS

Bible Reading: Psalms 150

Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. Psalm 150:2

The greatest truth of God is that He is worthy of our worship, we have been created to worship Him. When we actually do this, we find the real and eternal end or value of our existence. How can you be more than a conqueror? By not only wrestling in prayers but by praises also. Why is it that so many people are hard, cold, sad, empty and angry? The answer is that they have never really worshiped God. They have never bowed to Him, submitted to Him, seen Him in His glory and love, and risen up to praise Him, to make joyful noises and shouts before Him. We will also learn to wait upon Him, to sit in the silence, to listen for His voice. Our motives for praise are twofold. We praise God for what He has done, and we praise Him for who He is. We are also to “praise Him for His excellent greatness. God is great. He is full of “greatness.” No one is greater than Him.

Praise God for bringing good people around your life. Praise Him for the food and the clothes you wear. Praise God for the opportunity He has given you.

MARCH 5

THE WAY OF THE LORD IS THE WAY OF WISDOM

Bible Reading: Proverbs 1

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 1:7

There are two ways we gain wisdom. One is by the experience of life. The second is by the expounding of God’s Word. The fear of the Lord is the single most important essential. If a man wants to be wise, the place to begin is in reverencing God and in trusting and obeying Him. The wise thing to do is to repent of one’s sins, trust Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and then live for Him wholeheartedly.  We hear the heartbeat of a parent who wants the best in life for his child. By heeding this parental advice, a young person will avoid life’s traps from everyday affairs. We should discover the will of God in our life so we can be who God wants us to be. Everyone has a purpose for living. Wisdom will always be our guide so we do not make mistake why we are in this world. One thing we should aim at is to finish well and die empty. The word of God gives wisdom. If you want to be wise read a chapter of Proverbs and five chapters of Psalms everyday.

Prayer Point: Lord, give me wisdom to know how to fear and honor you all my life.

MARCH 6

WISDOM IS THE BEGINNING OF GREATNESS

Bible Reading: Proverbs 2

So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;Proverbs 2:2

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. If you want to be great you need wisdom. People with negative mindset and reasoning cannot be great. Sometimes, education don’t give wisdom. The book of James said, “If anyone lack wisdom let him ask.” If you think you are wise is an indication you lack wisdom. There must be an open ear and an open heart or mind. The son must be an attentive listener, not a compulsive talker. He is not told to talk out his problems, as in modern counseling; rather he should listen to the wise advice of others. After we have been saved through faith in Christ, we are then in a position to learn divine wisdom from the LORD. He teaches us how to think straight, how to discern truth and error, and how to develop divine insight. Ability to make wise decisions, saves a person from many a “bad trips.“ When you want knowledge and wisdom and understanding as badly as you wanted that breath of air, that’s when you begin the journey.”

Confession: I receive grace to discern good and bad so I will be free from evil people and error.

MARCH 7

TRUST IN THE LORD ALWAYS

Bible Reading: Proverbs 3

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Proverbs 3:5

Obedience to parents attracts blessing: those who are subject to their parents live longer and better lives. Ex. 20:12) which promises long life to those who honor their parents. The satisfying life is the one that is lived in the center of God’s will. Many did not know that their pastor is their spiritual father. They are so free with him until they do not value his advice. They look at him as mate or friend. You do not know if you honor your pastor you will have health and live long also. Many church members die untimely because of the way they disregard their pastor. Some even speak against them which became a curse on their lives. Believe on the prophet and you shall prosper is still valid today.  Every area of our live must be turned over to His control. We must have no will of our own. All we have belongs to Him. What you do for yourself has no eternal value. What you do for God’s sake will speak as a reward in heaven.

Prayer Request: I turn all my sorrow and struggle into the hand of the almighty God in Jesus name. I receive grace to fly like the eagle to my place of rest.

MARCH 8

GET WISDOM

Bible Reading: Proverbs 4

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Proverbs 4:7

If there is anything you should seek or pray for is wisdom. Wisdom is wealth. Marriages without wisdom will soon end. Many Christians have died for lack of wisdom. A lady who knows a guy has repeatedly had immortality with her and want to quit still go ahead and visit him in odd places is a fool. She may say is a mistake but the truth is that she planned it. You only do what is in your heart to do. I can forgive people who did bad stuff but cannot trust people who repeatedly do bad stuff because they are not wise and changes may cause them do it again. How can you trust such one even if he or she says trust me? Abuse of trust is life time misconduct. Bible says trust no man. WISDOM will keep you from error. There is nothing which the human mind and heart cannot conceive in wickedness.  We should recognize that out of that heart will come all of the great issues of our live, but it is the mouth and the lips that will do the speaking.

Prayer Request: Lord, give me wisdom as you gave Solomon. Let me do the right thing always, make good choices and understand people.

MARCH 9

CAREFUL WITH SEDUCTIVE WOMEN AND MEN

Bible Reading: Proverb 5

For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil: Proverbs 5:3

Although this chapter deals with the way ladies press hard on men for immorality we shall also understand that there are men who pursue ladies too. Solomon with 1,000 wives and concubines (1 Kings 11:3), knew what he was talking about when he said, “Stay away from strange women. They dress, make up, add attachment, package their body, hip, bots, painting, fix nails eyes, learn to walk or speak to be admired and seduced. They took men ways of dressing but men cannot take theirs. What are these purpose but for guys to admire them. Some even go extra by exposing some inappropriate parts of their body, laps, chest or belly. Men are moved by what they see hence Solomon addressed men to be careful so they do not distrust their lives. On the other hand ladies are to be careful of all the lies men give in other to seduce them. Woman have their body to display but men have their lying tongue to deceive. Be careful.

Prayer Point: Lord, I receive the power of the Holy Ghost to know the seductive men and women and overcome all their tactics.

MARCH 10

Topic: PRESENTATION OF CHRIST’S EXCELLENCIES Part2

Text: Heb 1:2,3

Memory Verse: I know that Messiah cometh, which is called Christ: when He is come,HE WILL TELL US ALL THINGS’ John 4 :25

CHRIST, THE SUSTAINER OF THE UNIVERSE: Heb 1:3, Psalm 75:3, Col 1:17

Everything in the universe is sustained right now by Jesus Christ. ‘’Upholding all things by the word of His power’’ that is, by His powerful word or command. He upholds or sustains all things – rocks, mountains, seas, animals, men, earth, the universe, all distant worlds–by the word of His power. Assuredly, He who can hold up this vast universe, so that it does not sink into anarchy, must be God. Can you imagine what would happen if Jesus Christ  relinquished His sustaining power over the laws of the universe? We would go out of existence. If He suspended the law of gravity only for a brief moment, we would perish in unimaginable ways. Christ with His preeminent power upholds, maintains, sustains all things. A life, just as a universe, that is not sustained by Christ is chaos.

CHRIST, THE PERFECT SACRIFICE FOR SIN:  Heb 9:12-14, John 1:29, Titus 2:14

‘’The blood of Jesus   his Son, purifies  us from all sin’’ (1 John 1:7). It was not merely to teach that Christ came; it was to purify the hearts of men, to remove our sins and to put an end to sacrifice by the sacrifice of Himself.  Jesus Christ dealt with the sin problem once and for all. It had to be done.

We could not communicate with God or enter into fellowship with Him unless sin was dealt with. So Christ went to the Cross and bored the penalty of sin for all who would accept His sacrifice, believe in Him, and receive Him. By His sacrifice, sin was purged, wiped out. We have all sinned. Either we pay the penalty for our own sins, which is eternal punishment in hell or we accept Christ’s payment for our sins in sacrificing Himself, for which we receive eternal life.

If we turn away from all our sins and believe in Christ as our Saviour, our sins are washed away and are given grace to live right. Those who die in their sins will suffer forever.

WE OWE OURSELVES SINCERITY

Open rebuke is better than secret love Proverbs 27:5

One of the responsibilities you have to your friends is to correct an evil.  A friend that cannot correct you when you are going wrong is not a friend.  God will hold you accountable if you sit down and clap while your friends display all sorts of unrighteousness and evil.  Those that take pleasure in evil will equally taste God’s wrath.  We should be courageous enough to rebuke an evil done in our presence.  A love that cannot rebuke an evil is a fake and deceiving love.

Also, we should not misunderstand people that correct us.  Most of us will want to take them as adversaries but that is untrue.  The person that truly loves will look into your eyes and tell you that  what you did was wrong.  those that flatter you are not necessarily your friends.  They may be applauding you to your destruction.  when you fall, they will start mocking at you.  Always strive to be an agent of light where ever you find yourself.  Don’t be ashamed to stand for the light.

QUESTION

How can we differentiate between lovers and flatterers?

MARCH 11

THE DANGER OF LUST

Bible Reading: Proverbs 6

Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.Proverbs 6:25

Jesus said lust in the heart is the same in the eyes of the Lord as committing the act. It is when we cultivate a temptation in our heart and play it out in our mind that we err greatly just as if we were involved in the activity. “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life” (Prov. 4:23) whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart” (Matt. 5:27–28). The whole sinful thought begins down in the human heart. One great safeguard is to stay as far away from the temptation as possible. Because women have some packaging they can do to themselves to be outstanding and attractive to men. You cannot sleep in Delila lap and wake up in Abraham’s bosom. A friend of mine parked from his house, changed his phone because he could not resist her neighbor’s wife coming in at odd time. He said that is what he can do to stop the act because she is too powerful. Man, save yourself before you save others.

Prayer Point: I receive power to overcome the spirit of lust. I will never be deceived in Jesus name

MARCH 12

FLEE FROM IMMORALITY

Bible Reading: Proverbs 7

With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him. Proverbs 7:21

Obedience to God’s Word is the pathway to abundant living. Those who follow Wisdom and her instructions are preserved from the immoral woman and from the flattery of the seductress. Sisters’ this days appearance, dressed like Hollywood star, painted, make up, show how big the hip or buttock are. Everything appears fake. When I see sisters I know in Facebook I see how unrealistic they are, fake identity. Sometimes it does not look like the person I know and they are happy with it but I’m crying for them. Mother and daughter competing baby dull  faces on social media. We should flee from every appearance of immorality. I have learnt a lot from people’s low level of thinking, leaders or pastors who seem to be fathers of how they accommodates every sister and sometimes because jealousy or not giving such attention to the others they begin to speak evil of such leaders, so leaders should careful.

Prayer Point: Pray for purity of heart and for sanctification. Lord, deliver me from my enemy who is looking for my mistake to attack me in Jesus name

MARCH 13

(MY BIRTHDAY)

WISDOM WILL BRING WEALTH

Bible Reading: Proverbs 8

Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness.

Proverbs 8:18

Wisdom can lead to successful plans that will produce wealth. Wisdom provides the perspective and the power to see issues clearly and pursue them courageously. The value of Wisdom’s instruction is incomparable. It is to be desired above silver, choice gold, rubies, or anything else that men prize highly. If you have Wisdom, you also have insight. Wisdom gives knowledge and discretion for the management of the affairs of life.  Benefits of Wisdom are: Good counsel, Sound judgment, Understanding, Moral strength to do what is right and to resist evil, Leadership ability and Judicial skill. Solomon asked for wisdom. And the Lord said, “Because you didn’t ask for riches, honor, health, or victory over your enemies, I’ll give you wisdom and all these other things, as well.  Seek wisdom.

Confession; I am born to win in all affairs of life. I am a success and a great leader.

Lord, let nobody I am helping turn out to lead me to hell in Jesus name.

MARCH 14

BE CAREFUL WHOM YOU REBUKE

Bible Reading: Proverbs 9

Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.

Proverbs 9:8

If you correct a scoffer, you get only abuse for it. If you rebuke a wicked man, he will turn on you and assault you. A scoffer hates you. Your efforts will only add insult to injury.  Whereas, a wise man will thank you when he is corrected. How do you react when parent, teacher, employer, or friend corrects you? Instead of resenting criticism, a wise man takes it to heart and thus becomes still wiser. A just man benefits by increasing his store of useful learning. Wisdom leads to multiplied days and increased years.  It provides not only for long life, but for good and productive living, and then-beyond that-for the life that never ends. Sometimes you want to correct someone to be better but it turns out you need to shake dust from your feet not to further put more sand to the wound in either to correct some people. By overlooking people misbehavioris to stay clear from trouble.

Prayer: Lord, keep me from friends who mean evil to me. Deliver me from them and secure me.

FOOLISHNESS BRINGS DESTRUCTION

Bible Reading: Proverbs 10

Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction. Proverbs 10:14

Our conduct, whether wise or foolish, has ultimate consequences. Righteousness delivereth from death.” Christ has been made unto us not only wisdom but righteousness. And “… whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). The wise in heart will receive commandments. Remember there was a king by the name of Nebuchadnezzar who listened to the counsel of Daniel and prospered. There was another king by the name of Belshazzar. He was a fool. A royal banquet one night marked the end of him and his kingdom. This would apply to Absalom, David’s son. He wouldn’t accept reproof. He made a big mistake in attempting to seize the kingdom from his father. What a terrible thing it is to have someone pretend to be your friend and later you discover that he is really your enemy. That person is actually a fool.

Confession: I am full of wisdom to do what is right always. I act wisely at all times. People understand me and favour me always.

MARCH 16

GIVING ALWAYS YIELD POSITIVE RESULTS

Proverbs 11

The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.Proverbs 11:25

He that bestows his goods upon the poor shall have as much again, and ten times more. The Lord has said that if one sows sparingly, he shall also reap sparingly. That is a general principle. It certainly also applies to giving to the work of the Lord. The wicked seek for evil and they get it in the form of wrath or judgment. We enrich ourselves by being generous. We impoverish ourselves by laying up treasures on earth. What we save, we lose. What we give, we have. Whatever we do for others returns to us in blessing. When a man’s motives are pure and unselfish, he wins the esteem of others. But the man who is out to cause trouble for others will get it for himself. Proverbs 11:24 NLT Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything. Giving really pays. If you do not give to your earthly father you are a bastard. In like manner, if you do not give to your pastor, you will be spitted out one day.

Affirmation: I have so much money to pay my bills and help other pay their bills and sponsor them.

ASSURANCE OF FAITH – Part 1

Text: Heb 11:1-3

Memory Verse: draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith Heb 22a

WHAT IS FAITH? : Heb 11:1, John 20:24-29, Acts 27:25

We need faith to enter God’s rest. So therefore we need to fully understand what FAITH is all about.

Faith is believing the testimony of God. Faith is more than mere assent to anything revealed and declared by God. It is a firm persuasion of that which is hoped for, because the believer is assured that through the power and faithfulness of God, he will possess it. Faith and confidence are inseparable. Counting upon the ability and fidelity of God, who has promised, we are confident of receiving the things promised.”We believe and we are sure” (John 6:69)

Resting on God’s promises and expecting the accomplishment of them, faith gives the object hoped for at a future period, a present reality- as if already possessed. Faith provides a firm standing ground while we await the fulfillment of God’s promises. Faith furnishes our hearts with a sure support during the interval.

ASSURANCE OF FAITH: Heb 6:18, Titus 1:2, 2Cor 4:13,18

Faith can only be built on the Word. Christ, the Living Word is the surest foundation on which to build the purest faith. Having spoken so clearly on the greatness and the glories of Christ, the perfection and the priesthood of Christ, the faithful submission and the final sacrifice of Christ, a solid foundation had been laid.

His exhortation is drawn from the central characteristic of people in the Old Covenant- faith. From the first patriarch to the last prophet in the Old Covenant, faith was the essential thing that linked each of them to God. From Abel, Abraham, Joshua and  Celeb, David, Enoch, and all others, faith was the indispensable, remarkable thing in their lives. If it was so for The Old Covenant people, are we surprised that FAITH is the central and essential requirement in the New Covenant?

Lets return to the Lord now that there is mercy.

QUESTION

How long does God give mercy to a sinner?

MARCH 18

FAVOUR WILL CONTINUE WHEN THERE IS MERCY

Bible Reading: Proverbs 12

A good man obtaineth favour of the Lord: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn. Proverbs 12:2

It’s not that God will hurl down judgment on the man of wicked devices. It’s simply that He will allow that man’s own wicked devices to backfire on him. When you do good, you yourself is satisfied. I once supported a brother two or three times with amount nearly a million Naira, as if I was under a spell. Out of their carelessness they could not invest the money I gave them but rather pay off their debt and relocated without investing it. It hurts me so bad because they could not take my advice and found themselves in horrible situation crying again for help. When I considered what happen to them I said it could happen to me or anybody and God has given me the power to help I could not stop. I told the family weeks ago, God has given you mercy in my sight. I cannot imagine it myself. I showed mercy that God will show mercy to me. What you cannot give you cannot get. If you put your eyes on people to help you, you cannot be great.

Prayer Point: I am satisfied with lots of favour, people are always on my part to assist me and guide me on the right part.

MARCH 19

OUR WORDS AND DEEDS ARE COUNTED AGAINST US.

Bible Reading: Proverbs 13

He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction. Proverbs 13:3

Words that a sinner will speak and may not suffer the consequences of it, if a believer say it may open the door for devil to afflict him or her. The righteous man is actually better off than his unrighteous neighbor. The sinner seem to do the wrong stuff and shady deal and they seem to be successful but don’t look at them. Their end is not your end. They have always been with devil, if you do what they do you are gone, you have sold your soul to the devil. Don’t forget how ISRAEL surfer for doing what other nations were doing and those evil nations were enjoying. You are not them. You are different. The man who guards his speech controls his whole life. The one who exercises no self-control is in for trouble. The lesson is: be careful what you say-it might be used against you. All form of gossip is foolish talking. Carrying rumor and speaking evil of someone is deadly.

Prayer Point: Lord help me say the right word that will bring healing and hope to others.

MARCH 20

THE BACKSLIDER IN HEART

Bible Reading: Proverbs 14

The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself. Proverbs 14:14

Where ever man is found, in the church or social world there will be people who act foolishly. The point is, did they now they are acting foolishly? No. Later they may realise but pride will not make then accept their fault, some may only regret they have lost some valuable opportunities in life. The key thing is what the Bible says in Proverbs 14:7 Stay away from fools, for you won’t find knowledge on their lips. The best way to stay out of trouble is to help the fools and if you know you cannot help them because of their mindset and way of reasoning is to avoid them. They are people with you, until you separate yourself from them you cannot see clearly things that will make you fulfillyour destiny. The backsliders in heart are fools walking as wise. They are always right. Others are wrong. They are living in sin and do not care. Correction is offensive to them. They always look for their gain. When a backslider sins, he does not consider it as sin.

Pray Point: Pray and dedicate your life before the Lord that you will serve and honour the Lord all the days of your life.

MARCH 21

USE YOUR WORD RIGHTLY

Bible Reading: Proverbs 15

A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger. Proverbs 15:1

If you answer a man with a harsh word, it stirs up his fleshly nature, and pretty soon you have a violent quarrel on your hands. You will recall that when Abigail heard that her husband had sent an insulting answer to David, who had in kindness and consideration taken care of his flocks, she hurriedly ordered the servants to gather a great deal of food for David. Then she went to meet David and fell down on her face before him. She recognized him as the future king, and she spoke to him of the fact that his life was bound up in the bundle of life with God—a beautiful expression. She gave a soft answer, and it did turn away wrath. A man hates to be told that he is wrong. There are some people who will not accept any kind of advice or admonition Instead they become offended. It is wonderful to say the right thing at the right time!. Nothing good comes out of a wounded heart. A bitter woman or man will only speak gossip and bitter word. We should overcome these weaknesses.

Affirmation: Lord, each time I open my mouth I speak wisdom, people understand me clearly and they admire the way I talk.

MARCH 22

PRIDE GOES BEFORE DESTRUCTION

Bible Reading: Proverbs 16

Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs 16:18

It was pride that caused the fall of Lucifer. This is the thing that brought down the archangel whom we know as Satan today. I have seen poor and rich people demonstrate pride and they don’t even know it. Does who dig up issues and try to investigate cases against their spouse or friend just to prove how correct they are and never knew they are demonstrating pride and causing more troubles. A worthless person digs up evil and his words are hips of fire – Prov. 16:27. Our word will stand against us. We should use right word when talking about others. Speak evil of no man. Pride has separated marriages and old friends. We demonstrate pride by the way we carry ourselves, talk, walk and opportunity. When a man is proud he also has anger and high mindedness. He sees nothing wrong with his action. This will lead to destruction. Self control is the answer. Proverbs 16:32 says He who is slow to anger is better and more honorable than the mighty [soldier], And he who rules and controls his own spirit, than he who captures a city.

Prayer Point: Lord, keep me from bitterness, anger and pride in Jesus name.

MARCH 23

COVER YOUR NEIGHBOUR’S WEAKNESS

Bible Reading: Proverb 17

He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends. Proverbs 17:9

Christianity which is born of love is one of the religions where we tear one another down. We do not cover our brother’s sin. What we do is to expose then, gossip them and spread the sin of the brother. We kill those the enemy has wounded instead of helping them. We fail to understand that the measure we used to judge others that is what will be used against us. God has forgiven the brother but we’re still spreading the report. What do we want the brother to do, should he kill himself so you will be happy? Is that the love God spoke about? Never speak or carry news of a brother who commitsa sin. If God has forgiven him and you’re still talking about it you commit a greater sin. God reproves his saints, sometimes by sending trouble into their lives. Jesus referred to a man that he is a fool because he was planning to build new barn for his family and nothing for eternity, he died before his time.

Affirmation: I love others and people love me. I have the heart to assist people. I have what it takes to create a difference in the world.

MARCH 24

Topic: ASSURANCE OF FAITH- Part 2

Text: Heb 11 :1-11

Memory Verse: draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith Heb 10:22a

DISCERNMENT THROUGH FAITH; Heb11:3, Rom 3:17, Rev 4:11

“Through faith we understand…”Faith is the means of spiritual perception. Our Lord, Jesus Christ, called those who were “slow of heart to believe’ the Scriptures fools (Luke 24:25). Unbelief makes men blind- they cannot see. Through faith in what has been revealed in the Scriptures, we understand, we know that the universe is created by God.

God is the Creator and Maker of all things. He made the world by His Word. The world was created and framed out of nothing. God, who can call things that are not as if they were, commanded them into being. “for he spake, and it was done; he commanded and it stood fast” (Psalm 33:9). Since God created the universe out of nothing, how easily can He provide for all our needs even when there is no visible provision or helper in sight. He who created the worlds into existence by the Word of His Power, can command abundant supplies for the poorest of His children.

DECLARATION APPROVING MEN OF FAITH: Heb 11:2, Gen 15:6, Acts 13;22

It was by faith that the men and women of the Old Testament “obtained a good report”. The Lord testified of them because walking with God and pleasing Him, obeying His Word, leaving and forsaking idolatry, offering their most priced possessions to Him, forsaking earthly privileges to follow God’s way, etc. were the products of their faith in God. All these godly acts were produced by faith.

It is by faith that we are approved of God. Whatever we do in unbelief will not recommend us before God. Decisions and actions in periods of unbelief disapprove us before God. Faith and acts of faith bring God’s approval in our lives.”For by it the elders obtained a good report” (Heb 11:2)

THE CARELESS TALKER

Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? There is more hope of a fool than him Prov 29:20

Although words are cheap, we should not use them anyhow.  Wisdom and caution should be applied in the way we talk.  Don’t  just jump into a conversation.  Be careful with the comments you make about other people.  Words are very powerful.  When you talk anyhow and too often, people seem to loose confidence in you.  Experience have shown that people generally respect a person that is quite, that talks less.  We should all learn to be silent.  Pick your words.  Observe more but talk less.  Some foolish persons in the process of talking too much don’t realise when they revealed their personal secrets to their enemies.  The best way to control the sins of the mouth is to talk less.  It is wisdom to examine a matter very well before passing a comment on it.  Don’t talk to run anybody down, don’t be frivolous.  Don’t let your voice be loudest in a group discussion.  When you are angry, remain silent.  Your words can actually put you into trouble.  Demons know how to set people up using their words.  Be careful.

CONFIDENT MIND WILL BRING HEALTH

Bible Reading: Proverbs 18

The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?Proverbs 18:14

As you cannot see the human mind so it is with the human spirit. They walk in hand to determine how you respond to physical things on earth. If your spirit is wounded yourmind is also wounded and whatever affect your mind affects your body and you life expectancy. If you are sick, your mind can sustain your healing. If your mind is wounded, your health will deteriorate. That is why we do not tell bad stuff to sick or old people or else their sickness will become worse or they will die soonest. That is why in the midst of excitement and celebration or joyful shouting, more healing and miracles take place. The reason why some people lose their healing after been prayed for is that their spouses or people around them are not helping matters, misunderstanding at home, quarrel, bitterness, lack of care and comfort for the person will develop the sickness again. A man’s spirit can bear up under all kinds of physical infirmities, but a broken spirit is far more difficult to endure.

Prayer Point: I receive the healing anointing. I have sound health.

MARCH 26

WEALTH ATTRACTS GOOD AND BAD

Bible Reading: Proverbs 19

Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour. Proverbs 19:4

When men make a mess of their lives, they turn around and blame the Lord. Thus, Adam tried to put the blame on God with the words “The woman whom you gave to be with me” It’s better to be honest and to retain your integrity even though it might lead to poverty than it is to compromise your convictions. Many people think that if a person is poor, it’s due to sin in his life. But that’s not necessarily so. To the church at Smyrna, Jesus said, “I know you’re poor financially, but in reality, you’re rich because you’re walking with Me” Revelation 2:8, 9. Wealth does make friends. The question is, what kind of friends does it make? Friends that will come to eat from you or for their benefit and others that eat you down. They will not come to you when you were suffering but will come and eat where they did not sow. If a man is poor, even his brothers won’t return his calls. We should not treat the poor, elderly, disable and homeless that way.

Confession: I am the richest in my community. I am the best and I do things others dare to do.

MARCH 27

GOSSIPS SEPARATE GOOD RELATIONSHIPS

Bible Reading: Proverbs 20

He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips. Proverbs 20:19

While reading this chapter I derived two things in verses 19 and 27 which I would like to talk about today. Talebearers are out there to spoil others. They use word to blackmail people they know they cannot fight. Do not move with a gossip, because if he talks against others to you, you can be sure that he will talk against you to others. The best way is not to listen because if you want to hear all things you will hear what they will say against yourself and your family. Their job is to spoil your mind and affect your relationship so you will be their friends. Not long they will tell others what you did not say or do. There are people who are not encouraging your Christian experience because of their life style, sometimes you expect them to do much but they are the ones causing everything offensive. All you have to do is to move on with your Christian life and look unto Jesus. Don’t be part of their gossip.

Prayer Point: Lord, keep me far from those who will gossip and murmur against me in Jesus name.

MARCH 28

GOD WILL BRING DOWN THE HOUSE OF THE WICKED

Bible Reading: Proverbs 21

The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked: but God overthroweth the wicked for their wickedness.

Proverbs 21:12

The question you must ask this time is who are the wicked? Your mind will quickly go to witches and wizards. The wicked could be members of your family, your Christian brother or sister, Your in-law, nephew, niece, aunt, or sister whom you sold your only land and sponsored to study in the university. Those who felt they are very close to you and you did not build castle for them and felt others outside is enjoying you more than them as if they are the one who worked and gave you the money. Those who felt they should have been the one to marry you instead of the man or woman you are married to are group of wicked and envious people. They are everywhere who want to reap where they did not sow. Some company staff could be wicked to their boss because they felt he is not caring for them much because they are eying them. This could result to company violence and strike. These are wicked. Those who love pleasure become poor; those who love wine and luxury will never be rise.

Prayer Point: Let fire fall on the house of the wicked.

GO AWAY FROM AN ANGRY MAN

Bible Reading: Proverbs 22

Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:Proverbs 22:24

The Bible is always true. You cannot be holier than the Bible. I tell people my personal experience on issues of relating with people. Things that happened that has almost destroyed my fortune were friendship with angry men with the hope they will be betterperson. When I was in Deeper Life I was very close to a women whose name is Sister Joy. I was the only man that can talk to her and she will calm from anger. The husband will always come to talk to me to help her calm down, since she loved me so much and she will always listen to me. For years I did the best to them which they enjoyed until one day her anger splashed on me and it took me years to come out of it. Over and over because of my love to encourage heartbroken people so they will be happy, in my attempt to help angry, jealous people I ended up wounding myself. I therefore chose to obey the Bible, “an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go”. The best way to stay out of trouble is to stay away from angry people.

Confession: I will never move with or befriend an angry person in my life again.

MARCH 30

AS A MAN THINKS SO IS HE

Bible Reading: Proverbs 23: 1-19

For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee. Proverbs 23:7

You are what you are because of what you think. For a man to change, his thinking has to change. Everyone God created is good, it is his thinking that makes a man wicked. The devil twists the mind of people because they allowed wrong and negative word to enter into their mind and they believed it. It is what you believe and accept that makesyou bad or good. Great man is as a result of good thinking. Some people fight negative thoughts in their mind daily. They are held captive they go from one deliverance to the other. True deliverance will only come if they can listen to the right word again and again until their mind is renewed and starts thinking right. The negative mindset is what is holding us captive. If you keep thinking that way you use to think no change will come that is why Jeremiah 13:23 said, Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil. It is what you have in the inside you act out.

Confession: My thoughts are clear, pure and good at all times.

MARCH 31

ENTERING INTO HIS REST

TEXT: Heb 4:1-11

Memory Verse: There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God Heb 4 : 9

GOD’S REST : Heb 4:1-5, Is 26:3,4

Happy  New Year of entering into God’s rest. The basic idea of REST is that of ceasing from work or from any kind of action. Through God’s grace, the believer, ceases from  the work of self–righteousness for salvation. Rest also means freedom from whatever worries or disturbs the mind. God’s rest means we have peace with God, our sins are forgiven and there is no fear of judgment. In God’s Rest, we are so  established in Christ, we are not running from religion, we are established, rooted, grounded, unmovable, free from being tossed about by every wind of doctrine.

Rest also means to lean on. To enter into God’s rest means that we are leaning only on God for the rest of our lives. This rest, full , peaceful, sweet, satisfying and blessed, is pictured and illustrated by the Canaan rest promised for Israel.

FAITH TO ENTER GOD’S REST: Heb 4:1-3, Rom 10:8-10, Acts 27:18-25

“Let us THEREFORE fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into His Rest, any of you should seem to come short of it”(Heb 4:1). The exhortation is directed at believers. The word translated “come short” is taken from the Greek games of that time. A man , no matter how little he might have failed- if he came short only by a fraction- was disqualified. Unless we have faith in Christ till the end, we would be disqualified for lack of faith.

Hearing, reading, studying the Word of God with only the faculties of the brain is not sufficient to make us enter into salvation and gracious rest. Whatever our intellectual powers or ability, without faith and the prayer of faith, the Word we hear or study will not lead us to God’s eternal rest. The five natural, senses- our eyesight, hearing, taste, sense of smell and sense of touch- without the ‘sixth sense’, FAITH, cannot lead us to real ,full, eternal rest of God. “We which have believed do enter into rest”(Heb 4:3).

STILL ON PRIDE

A man’s pride shall bring him low; but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit. Prov 29:23

Pride is a tool for destruction.  A proud man uses this tool to destroy himself.  Proud people most often don’t even know they are proud.  This is the reason why we should put our thoughts, actions and motives constantly under check.  Pride can start with a thought, a feeling, an assumption.  Be careful when you begin to feel that you are special or that you are better than anyone else. When you allow your accomplishments or anything about you get into your head, then be careful, destruction is by the corner.  The question we should ask ourselves is this “what have we got that we did not get from God?  Don’t let pride get into your head please.  Even society does not like proud people.  When you humble yourself, you make friends.  People recommend humble people.  Humility can make people to appreciate and favour you.  Bring down yourself.  See yourself as a product of grace.  You are where you are by the mercy of God.  Shun pride.  Treat people with respect and courtesy.  Serve God with genuine humility.  This is the ladder that leads to the top.

QUESTION: List some root causes of pride?
