Bible Reading: Psalms 124:1-8

If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us: Psalms 124:2

If you can recall things that have happened to you for the past ten years you will talk like David if it has not been the Lord on my side where would I be now. Like Apostle Paul, he fought with beast, snake, false brethren, his own people and evil powers. He was eventually imprisoned and killed. We are fighting unseen battles. Have people you trusted and supported turned against you? Do not worry it is part of human experience. When unfriendly friends and relatives become your enemies and start fighting you then know that you have just began the highway to success. These are things that must happen to you. People may think you are cursed that is why strange events happen around you but be rest assured that God will see you through in times of affliction. Know for sure your help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

DECLARATION: I declared in the name of the Lord I will stand firm and overcome  every opposition that may come on my way in Jesus name.

Bible Reading: Psalms 125:1-5

For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity. Psalms 125:3

It pays to trust in the Lord no matter the situation you find yourself. Sometimes we are in a challenge that we felt that help is not coming and the Lord is delaying to deliver us. Do not worry those times God is standing by you and He is working things out that you will be happy with. Nothing should affect our faith. We should be unmovable and resilience. Know for sure they that trust in the Lord shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed. No one can remove you from the position God has programmed you to be. No matter how forceful the enemy may be ragging, he cannot harm you. As children of God we are unique, we should not suffer like the wicked sinners. They are a prey to the devil. We as children of God are covered and secured. If we suffer like the unbeliever we do not have testimonies. We should confess and believe that we shall not suffer the way unbelievers are suffering.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, help me and defend me from the hands of the enemy.

Text:      Ephesians 6:10-18

Memory Verse:  Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  Eph 6:11

In these days of insecurity and upheaval in almost every part of the world military and paramilitary groups are confronted with the task of keeping the peace and security of the nations so as not to be caught unawares, they are expected to show a high level of preparedness, readiness and commitment to confront and attack the enemies with their modern and sophisticated weapon. Just like military groups, Paul viewed the Christian life as a kind of warfare and wanted Christians to be ready to confront the evil power that rule this world and always pose a threat to their faith. Paul meant that the Christian warfare is not merely physical.  There are powers in the unseen world, which we cannot defeat unless through the power of God.  Thus, he encouraged us to wear God’s armour.  Though these powers sometimes manifest in humans,  we should fight with the consciousness that we are not helpless because the spiritual weapons are at our disposal.  With this in place, we can stand to win the battle.

THE ARMOUR OF GOD: Eph 6:10:14-18

Having known that Christians are in constant battle, Paul in verse 13, enjoined the brethren in Ephesus to put on the full armour of God.  Though this armour is made by God, yet it is our duty to put it on.  If we do otherwise, we become susceptible to the attacks of the enemy.  Interestingly, this passage makes it clear that we must put this armour on before the day of evil comes.  We should be wise and not wait for the day of trouble before we begin to think of what to do,  for instance, the word of God needed for victory over an attack in one dreams would be part of the individual before the attack came.  Note that admonition to put on the armour of God is not to arms. Instead, it is a call to be ready at all times, so that we will not be caught unprepared when the devil strikes.

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23

God has given us a gift and that gift is in the person of Jesus Christ. It is a special gift that we don’t deserve. It is a gift that opens us to the good things of life both on earth and eternity. It is a gift that no human treasure could afford. “For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus.” For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son…” John 3:16. God is making an offer for all of us. The greatest mistake you will ever make in this life is to refuse His gift. Refusing His gift will cost you your life not just on earth but in eternity also. The gift is free you don’t have to pay for it. Why wait till tomorrow when you can have it today. Whosoever accepted the gift has cross from darkness into light, from sickness into health, from death into life. He can reach out to you where ever you are. You have that gift by confessing Jesus as your Lord and personal Saviour.

  1. What is the greatest gift of all?
  2. How can you avail yourself of this gift?
  3. Right now, make your commitment of accepting this gift of life.

Bible Reading: Psalms 126:1-6

He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him. Psalms 126:6

No one wants to be in captivity to poverty and devil or sickness. Those who have passed through that experience would not want to see anybody in that situation. Many Christians suffer out of ignorance and foolishness. We invest our money into business without proper feasibility study. We fight people that should be our helper. We eat foods that will induce sickness on our body at the end we say it is the devil.  It’s good to pray and fast. In some cases our tithes and seed speak louder than our voice. Today a lady told me how he sowed a seed in foreign currencies and God delivered her from the captivity she has been passing through. Last month during our morning devotion Rev Mrs Helen Odogba and I were teaching our children the need to pay tithe and sow seed of faith for their destiny. If you constantly sow seed and give your tithe God will take over your battle from you.

Prayer Point: Any captivity the enemy has programmed against me in time past or will plan for me in my future as I sow my money as seed let them be destroyed in Jesus name.

Bible Reading: Psalms 127:1-5

Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

Psalms 127:1

God expect us to enjoy our family and is our duty to train our house hold in the fear of the Lord.  While they live with you, pray together and take them to church regularly. Some parents will not buy Daily Devotional or Bible to their children or house help but they will buy food and clothing for them. Which one is more important, spiritual food or carnal food? If we do not train the children in the proper way we will regret it later. Let’s put God in the center of our family. Children are good, I love children. Those God have given the opportunity to have them should not stop. The Psalmist said “Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate”. Do not regret if you do not have because it is not in our power to bring them. You can adopt children. No matter where you find yourself look for a way to turn it to happiness and live a fulfilled life.

Prayer Point: Heavenly Father, I ask for wisdom to raise godly children to your glory.

Bible Reading: Psalms 128:1-6

For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee. Psalms 128:2

When the Shunammite woman’s child died Elisha asked if it was well with her husband and child, she answered “It is well”. It is difficult to say it shall be well when everything around you seem difficult. Imagine a woman who has lost her husband at a young age. She does not have money to pay house rent nor feed the children, as at that time it would be difficult to say it is well. I am here to declare to you it shall be well. Some young ladies have sold their soul to unbelievers in a way to show gratification for all the kind help he has been giving them. Nothing goes for nothing. If you have been receiving gifts from a man one day you will pay for it by messing up with your body. I have discovered by experience that those who gave up and could not wait patiently for God’s supply will fall into diverse temptations. No matter the situation you find yourself hold on to God. At the last minute help will come. Hold on to God.

DECLARATION: I declare God will never allow me be in situation that I will not overcome.

Bible Reading: Psalms 129:1-8

Let them all be confounded and turned back that hate Zion. Psalms 129:5

We fight against many forces daily. The strongest battle is in our flesh. Your emotion, immoral uncontrollable urge, anger and the inability to control our tongue are some of the internal battles. Any man who can control these, has prevail and the devil cannot defeat him. The enemy uses our weakness to fight us and hold us in captivity. The devil cannot prevail against you except he gets you by lust, envy, covetousness, jealousy. Once he gets you on any of these he has power to pin you down, cause delay of you expectation. We quote God’s promises every day. That is good but the promises are conditional. God is a jealous God, there are things we do that make God angry with us and He will change His mind from not giving you His promises. If you leave the Christian fold and get married to a Muslim or mess up with a Muslim God will be jealous because you gave him or her your body, which is His temple. If you overcome your personal temptation God will stand by you and help you prevail against the power of wicked demons.

Prayer Point: Let all forces of wickedness be destroyed from my life in Jesus name.

Bible Reading: Psalms 130:1-8

If thou, Lord, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? Psalms 130:3

It’s amazing that God forgives our sin when we sin. It is true He will not keep the record of our sin and does not keep track of the sin we committed but we should not forget He is not happy with your state of living in sin. The consequence of that sin is not removed even though He forgives us because we asked Him to. We lose a lot from our spirit man if we commit sin. Some privileges are removed  because we could not pass the test of life, we are now deprived of some benefits we should have enjoyed if we had overcome such temptation. If such sin is attached to a curse, strange spirit transfer or infection like in case of fornication it may lead to suffering from such curse, strange spirit or untimely death from the diseases, although you will still make heaven because God has forgiven you but lost a lot of privileges. Those who  have had mercy from their past sin that did not lead them to death  should thank God and never go back to that lifestyle again.  If we say we have not sin, we make God a liar. If we confess our sin He will forgive.

Prayer Point: Lord search my heart and see if there is sin in me and forgive me.

Bible Reading: Psalms 131:1-3

Lord, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me. Psalms 131:1

We exhibit pride everyday unknowingly, that is why it is necessary to examine our heart always so we can repent. Many of us show pride by the kind of shoes, handbag, dress, education, wealth, beauty and class we possess. The Bible said there is a “proud look”. We want to be gallant, lofty and majestic in other to feel belong. Are we in competition, who do we want to show off for or impress? High mindedness has eaten too deep into our youth. They want to arrive faster, they are in the world of competition who gets it first. If their friend gets it first it spoiled their mind, ‘why not me’. We should have a lonely and quiet spirit. God always reward the humble in the spirit. In Jesus preaching at the mount He said “Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth”. Some believers use their mouth to speak proud things God said He will “cut off all flattering lips and the tongue that speaks proud things” Psalms 12:3.

Prayer Point: Lord deliver me from pride and cleanse my heart from evil thoughts.

Text:     2 King 2:9-10

Memory Verse:  And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing, nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee, but if not, it shall not be so. 2 King 2:10

DETERMINE WHAT YOU DESERVE IN LIFE: 2 King 2:9, 1 King 3:5, John 11:22

To get what you want, you must also know what you don’t know; know what is not acceptable to you.  Where there is no such distinction between what you want and what you don’t want, life is left at the mercy of every available situation.  It is possible to get what you want in life.  Elisha according to our text followed after Elijah and got what he wanted.  There must be a specific vision or picture of what you are after in life.  After knowing what you want, then go after what you want like Elisha.  Never force yourself to feel right about what is neither your convictions so that you don’t end in frustrations.  Determine and decide what is fit for you in life and in God.  Don’t just accept everything that is thrown at you by life. Next, you must demand what you deserve. Go for it in prayer, in word, in worship and praise, in seed sowing and in practical work.

GIANTS IN EVERY CANAAN LAND: Num 13:33, Josh 14:12

There are giants in every Canaan land.  Whatever God spoke to you about or promised you will not enter your hands effortlessly.  It must be specifically demanded for.  You must be ready with a fiery fighting spirit to take delivery of what is yours. You don’t grow and progress without a fight.  A child does not come out of the womb except he fights his way out through the birth canal. That is how he gets a bigger space. He does not leave the lying position until he fights to sit up, he fights to move from the sitting position to crawling then to standing up and walking.  Those who are afraid to fight have agreed to fail and no one can or will do it for you.  However, God who gave you the promise is always with you and will never leave you on your own to handle the giants and the resistance.  Your decision guarantees His intervention, because God moves with those who move, He assists those who insist on their rights in Him.

For he beholded himself, and goeth his way and straightway forgetted what manner of man he was. James 1:24

Mirror is one of the greatest inventions of mankind. It is a beautiful contraction. Mirrors don’t lie. What you see in the mirror is a true reflection of who and what you are. Women understand it better that is why they make mirror their friend. If you don’t want to know how old you have become, please don’t look at the mirror. The mirror is careless about your feelings. It exposes all your blemishes. The mirror is a true friend that reveals all your negative part without apology. You can never look at the mirror and remain the same because you will always see something to remove. I have it because it helps me locate what to change about my life. “But whose looketh into the perfect law of liberty and continueth therein….” James 1:25. The word of God is our mirror for life that is why God encourages us to constantly look into it. To make proper adjustment in your life is to make the word of God your friend. To gauge your balance is to look into the word of God. You will not need to seek for men’s approval. Through the mirror of life you see yourself as God sees you.

Question: What is the importance of the mirror?

Bible Reading: Psalms 132:1-3

I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids, Until I find out a place for the Lord, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob. Psalms 132:4

We discovered the Psalmist had so much burden to work for God. He had the zeal of building God house before building his own house. Apostle Paul said “woe unto me if I preach not the gospel”. Lukewarmness has eaten deep into many Christians. They lack the zeal of going into the house of God. Even when they go to God’s house for worship, they go late and they do not care to give God their tithes and offerings at all. They think they are giving to man not God. The zeal to fast and pray is not in them. No one wants to go out for evangelism anymore. They are after their own thing. God told the children of Israel to consider their ways: they lost interest in giving and taking care of the house of God.  They can even demand for the church to assist them. No one have zeal to make the house of God flourish. Let the zeal of working for God consume you and you will reap the benefit.

DEDICATE yourself afresh to give financially and work for God, repent of all laziness for service and be filled with Godly zeal.

Bible Reading: Psalms 133:1-3

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity. Psalms 133:1

Many people put all blame on the devil for the bad things happening to Christendom. We forget God did not blame the devil but rather said “you perish for lack of knowledge”. We have seen how united and obedient corporate organisations are and they grow to become a strong multinational empire with billions of Dollar. The staff are obedient to the management whether the policy of the company favours them or not, but because of the pay they will keep working in unity. Any trace of unity they are dismissed. In Christian organization anyone who did not like something happening in the church, instead of them to keeping quiet, they will poison others and cause disunity and rebellion to the authority of the church. The Church will not take action against the person because they feel is a member of the church and they should treat people with mercy. The rule is that any organization that is united will grow and flourish.

CONFESSION: I confess we shall be one. The devil cannot separate us. We shall walk in unity and in agreement and love in Jesus name.

Bible Reading:  Psalm 134:1-3

A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeh forth good things and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeh evil things.  Matt 12:35

Every man is a function of his own imagination, perception and belief.  The way we manage our hearts determine the way we manage our lives.  Every man’s heart is the sure gateway to his destiny.  In other words, our perception determines our possession, the above scripture by Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our lives, confirmed that the destiny of man is in him, success or failure does not consist in God but in man. There is no man that can be greater than the thoughts of his heart.  How do I mean?  The scripture clearly states that as a man thinketh in his heart, so he is.   You must see change in your inner mind, before you can bring it to pass in your physical life, because the spiritual determines the physical.  God deals with your spiritual not your physical. God has given man the power to become what he wants to be on earth.  Our limitations in life are not caused by God or the devil, but by our inability to see what God has made available for us.  If you can’t see it you can’t appropriate it.

Prayer Point: Create in me a clean heart O Lord.

Bible Reading:  Psalm 135:1-21

Whatsoever the Lord pleased, that did he in heaven, and in the earth, in the seas, and all deep places.  Ps 135:6

A man whose life is rooted and grounded in the Lord, who has no alternative to God, nor imagines in his heart that there is an alternative to Him need not fear over anything in life.  For He that created all things in heaven and on earth and is above all things; He that has final say in all circumstances of life and death in heaven and earth will lead him through all things.  For what He has purposed in heaven no one can change on earth.  As you need no man’s consent to do good to your children, God does not need any body’s consent to do what He has purposed in your life. You are the only one that can stop the plan and purpose of God for your life. How?  Jesus said, the righteous shall shine forth like the sun in the  kingdom of their Father.  This means that sin is the only thing that can separate and deprive us from the promises  of God. When you refuse to pay your tithe, your finances are likely to come under satanic attack.  Let your hand be clean so that God’s purpose for your life will come to pass.  Don’t build bridges against yourself.

Prayer Point:  By God’s grace I will not fail.

Bible Reading: Psalm 136:1-26

Oh give thanks unto God of gods, for his mercy endureth forever.  Psalm 136:2

Thanksgiving is appreciating God for who He is, for His mercy and favour, for good health, for our life and all He has done, and is doing every day. Every day you wake up from your sleep, the first thing you ought to do is to thank Him for sustaining you and your family when you slept and waking you up among the living.  Many go to bed and never woke up.  The scripture says we should enter into His presence with thanksgiving.  Any time you appear before the Lord to seek His face for anything, take your time to thank and praise His glorious name for what He has done.  Thank Him for what He has purposed to do in your life, in your family, which shall come to pass.  Don’t ever present a request before God without first praising, worshipping and thanking Him for what He has done. The scripture says, “being enriched in everything to all bountifulness, which causeth through our thanksgiving to God (2 Cor 9:11)   Learn to praise, worship and give thanks to God with all your heart and substance.

Prayer Point: Lord, give me the enablement to praise you at all times.

Bible Reading: Psalm 137:1-9

How shall we sing the Lord’s song in a strange land? Ps 137:4

The children of Israel were taken into captivity into Babylon.  Babylon was a land of iniquity.  The children of Israel were asked to sing the Lord’s song by their captors.  But they refused to sing the song saying “How shall we sing the Lord’s song in a strange land?”  Some good Christians would say, but that was an opportunity to preach the word of God to the unbelievers.  Good thing, good idea.  But they that took them captive were not in any way interested in the God of Israel. They wanted to mock and dishonour the God of the children of Israel.  But the children of God made up their minds not to allow anyone, even in captivity to disgrace and dishonour their God. They were ready to die to defend the name of the Lord. Unfortunately most Christians today are singing the Lord’s song in a strange land. You see ladies giving themselves to unbelievers because of money. The church has abandoned the God Almighty for the gods. Which Lord’s song are you singing in the strange land?

Prayer Point: Lord, give me the grace to defend the gospel at all times.

Text:  Matthew 8:14-15

Memory Verse:  But said unto Barnabas, let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord and see how they do.  Acts 16:36

IMPORTANCE OF VISITATION: Acts 20:26-28, 16:35-36

When our Lord Jesus Christ visited Peter’s house, you could appreciate the joy of Peter and his family.  It was when the Lord visited Peter’s house that he discovered his mother in-law was sick. He healed her and she ministered to them.  The lesson here is that there are several people out there who are destined to be our helpers but like Peter’s mother in law they are sick and they need to be visited before they can minister to us.  Another lesson we learn that leaders should not be too busy to the extent that they cannot visit their close associates or subordinates.

If there was a man who did not have time to spare because of ministry it was the Lord.  He was thronged about everywhere He went.  Yet, He found time to visit Peter’s house.  As a pastor, find time to visit the homes of our ministers, and leaders even after staying up to many years in the ministry?

FOLLOW-UP:  Acts 14:21-22, 16:36

To follow the step of Jesus, let us create time despite our busy schedule, to visit ourselves as members of the same family.

District co-ordintors, department leaders, women leaders, men fellowship leaders, home cell leaders and workers should  make time to visit the homes of the church members.  They will surely appreciate the visit and it will endear them to you.  Or in the same vein, ministers should visit the workers while workers should visit the members.

This should be done as often as possible.  There are issues that may never arise until you visit the home of members.  Take a step further this year 2019 to follow the converts, pray for them and also teach them the basic things they need to know and do daily such as quite time, fellowship with brethren and constant study of the word of God.

A man’s pride shall bring him low; but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit. Prov 29:23

Pride is a tool for destruction.  A proud man uses this tool to destroy himself.  Proud people most often don’t even know they are proud.  This is the reason why we should put our thoughts, actions and motives constantly under check.  Pride can start with a thought, a feeling, an assumption.  Be careful when you begin to feel that you are special or that you are better than anyone else. When you allow your accomplishments or anything about you get into your head, then be careful, destruction is by the corner.  The question we should ask ourselves is this “what have we got that we did not get from God? Don’t let pride get into your head please.  Even society does not like proud people.  When you humble yourself, you make friends.  People recommend humble people.  Humility can make people to appreciate and favour you.  Bring down yourself.  See yourself as a product of grace.  You are where you are by the mercy of God.  Shun pride.  Treat people with respect and courtesy.  Serve God with genuine humility.  This is the ladder that leads to the top.

List some root causes of pride?

Bible Reading: Psalm 138:1-8

I will praise the Lord with my whole heart, before the gods I will sing praise unto thee.  Ps 138:1

From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same, the Lord’s name is to be praised.  Extol and magnify the Lord of heaven and earth while you live.  Praise Him for this is good and pleasant, its comely unto Him. He is the Lord of all creation, the owner and keeper of our life.  He inhabits in the praises of his creation, the owner and keeper of your life.  The hosts of heaven praise and worship Him every day.  Let the earth and the fullness therefore praise Him.  Praise is an aromatic sacrifice unto the Lord incomparable to anything you can do unto Him.  Nothing moves Him easily as praise and worship.  Nothing brings miracles from the throne of grace as fast as praise and worship.  Praise and worship is the language of heaven. When you praise Him He takes over the battle. It is written, “let the high praises of God be in their mouth and a two-edged sword in their hand.  To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people,  to bind their kings with chains and the nobles with fetters of iron.  Praise Him before you present any case to Him.

Bible Reading:  Psalm 139:1-24

Wither shall I go from your spirit, or whither shall I flee from thy presence?  Psalm 138:7

God knows every creature on earth by name.  He knows the number of the fowls of the air, the fish that is in the sea and every beast of the field.  He knows you by your name and everything concerning you.  He knows your going out and coming in.  God knows the thoughts of your heart and every bit of thing you do under the heavens.  There is no secret before Him, no hiding place. Where can you run from the Lord, where can you hide from Him? Man may not know what you are doing in secret, but God sees everything you do.  Your pastor and indeed the church might not know your secret activities, but God knows you more than you know yourself. Whether we know or not, whether we believe or not, it is certain that one day, all of us shall depart this world and shall give accounts of our actions on the day of judgment.  But the question is, where are you going from here?  There are only two destinations after death. Heaven or Hell,  which of them are you working and living for? The choice is yurs.

Prayer Point: Lord, give me the grace to live above sin.

Bible Reading:   Psalm 140:1-13

I know that the Lord will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and the right of the poor. Psalm 140:12

They that trust in God shall be like a tree planted by the river side. No matter the conditions they are, they shall not be affected.  But those that trust in man will live in sorrow because man will disappoint and disgrace you.  If you trust in riches and self you are living in derision.  When such calamities come no one can rescue you.  There is no doubt about this, there will be confrontations here and there.  The enemy will want to rip you of your life and property.  But you are not alone and neither are you without a helper.  The Lord Almighty, the Father of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is with you.  He is your strong deliverer, therefore you cannot be defeated.  You will never be put to shame.  Every limitation is broken and you shall increase on every side. The Lord is the strength of your salvation and has covered your head in the day of battle.  Those that purposed to over throw your plan will meet with disappointment then will they bow their heads in shame.  Only hope in Him.

Thanksgiving: Thank you Lord for your mighty deliverance upon my life.

Bible Reading:  Psalm 141:1-10

Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips. Psalm 141:3

This should be the prayer of every sincere believer.  You are a product of what you speak.  Be careful with what you say to yourself, children and others. When your heart is filled with negativity your mouth voices out what is in the heart. That is where the word of God comes in. When you saturate your mind with the word of God, the end product is refined words.  Words that are able to bring blessing to people.  Words that will bring hope to the hurting and discouraged. For those of you who call their children names and address them with curses and abusive words, you are not doing them any good.  The effect of those curses and abusive words will hunt them in the near future.  If you want them to be successful and responsible adults, begin to picture them and tailor in your mind and in  your words the way you want them to be.  Have the mindset that they are God’s image therefore they will make it in life.  They will succeed academically.  Speak kind words to your relations and neighbours. Kind words will save you from many troubles and win.

Prayer Point: Guard my mouth from speaking evil O My God.

Bible Reading:  Psalm 142:1-7

Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than!  Ps 142:6

Are you troubled on every side?  Are you at the verge of nervous breakdown as a result of problems and health issues?  Are you surrendered by evil and strong pursuers and you felt that they are stronger than you?  Pick up courage this morning and cry unto God as though you have come to your wits end. As though this moment is your last resort for your deliverance.  You may have been brought very low as David confessed in our text, remember you have a Saviour who is mindful of you.  He knows your pains and all that you are going through. You face what you face because sometimes you are weak in prayers.  At other times you are resigned to fate.  But that should not be the case today. Call upon His name and He will deliver you out of your troubles.  He will stretch forth His hand and pull you out of the lions den.  His ears are attentive to your prayers and your needs. Do not be troubled, He will meet you at the point of your need.

Prayer point:  My Father my Father, deliver me from my strong enemies in the mighty name of Jesus.

Bible Reading: Psalm 143:1-12

Hear my prayer, O Lord, give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness. Psalm 143:1

I want to tell you this morning that if nobody cares for you, GOD cares. Everyone may forsake you but HE will not. The arm of the flesh will certainly fail you but GOD will not. HE is the coverage for the homeless, Hope to the destitute and succor to the famished soul. He has promised never to leave you nor forsake you. At the height of the travails when it seems all hope is lost, suddenly the glorious light of His presence begins to show up. God will always wait until you have done all you can do, HE will wait until you have exhausted what you can offer yourself. His timing is the best. He will not share His glory with anyone. HE wants you to know that HE alone can do it. He would not have an alternative. Don’t think that HE has forgotten you. HE hears your prayers. Don’t be discouraged because at the appropriate time He will deliver the goods.  Helping the destitute helps in sustaining  an achievement. Mercy prolongs the throne. Keep trusting God.

Prayer Point: Lord I pray that you help me at the point of my need.

Text: Mark 14:32-40

Memory Verse: Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.  The spirit truly is ready but the flesh is weak Mark 14:38

PAY VERY CLOSE ATTENTION: Matt 26:31-35, John 18:7-9

It is always good to pay close attention to instructions given by someone you claim to be your mentor or leader.  Often, we miss many opportunities, breakthroughs and victories because we failed to see the details of the instructions given to us and subject. We may not know the great dangers our adherence to this instruction has saved us from until we see the suffering of someone who did not pay attention to it.  The Bible in many instances warns us against keeping company with ungodly so that we are not entangled in their wickedness (1 Cor 15:33).  The apostle of old had issues with paying attention to detailed instructions and we must learn from them.  When our Lord came face to face with reality of suffering and the cross, He admitted that it was not going to be easy.  He went to pray and told the disciples to do the same; though not for Him but for themselves.

Peter in the Bible reading of today did three deadly things that fostered his denial of Jesus Christ.  First, the Bible says he was following Jesus from afar off. Probably he might have received courage from the Master if he had followed Jesus closely.  Following Jesus from afar was bad enough but following him to the palace of the high priest was just too bad.  It could have paid off if he had backed out with the other disciples; after all, Jesus had told the soldiers to allow his disciples go while He volunteered His arrest. The third thing Peter did was that on getting to the palace of the high priest, he sat with the servants and warmed himself at the fire (Mark 14:66-67). One would wonder what Peter was still doing in that place after he had been confronted not once but twice about the fact that he had been with Jesus.  The answer is not far-fetched; he was enjoying the warmth of the fire in the environment.  Beloved, let us beware of comfort zones in life.  They may be physically comfortable but not spiritual ideal.

Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Psalm 100:2

When we appear before the Lord, we are to come with sons of praise and worship.  Only true spiritual singing can bring down the presence of the Lord in our meetings. Praising God is compulsory for all believers.  It is an art, a trade to be learned and practiced by everyone.  Many have found a hobby in coming to God with loads of complaints and requests.  You hear them asking God several questions relating to their predicaments.  They talk as if God is their mate!  That is a very wrong attitude.  God is unquestionable.  There is no unrighteousness with Him.  It is foolish to pick up faults with God.  All you need to do is to come before His presence with singing.  When you sing unto the Lord, mountains are subdued. The power of praise can destroy the strongest of oppositions. That was the second secret David’s dominion.  When all failed, try praise.

Mention 4 occasions in the Bible when songs of praise wrought victory for God’s people.

Bible Reading: Psalm 144: 1-14

My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer: my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me. Psalm 144:2

Prayer is the only heavenly weapon that has the divine capacity and strength to change all things in heaven and on earth. Let me say this, no matter how righteous you claim to be, no matter how knowledgeable you are in the word, no matter how anointed you are, if you don’t pray, and cause change, nothing will change in your life. God can do nothing on earth until someone prays. God said, ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall be open. Only through prayer can you ask, only through prayer can you seek, and only through prayer can you find. When you give yourself to prayer, when you go on your knees, when you provoke heaven with your relentless righteous prayer, your adversaries have no choice but to give way. There is no power on earth that is strong enough to resist a man of prayer; neither is there any situation that will not bow before him. If there be any thing Satan fears in the life of a believer it is prayer.

Prayer Point: Lord, give me the enablement to pray at all times.

Bible Reading: Psalm 145:1-21

I will extol thee, my God, O King; and I will bless thy name for ever and eve. Psalm 145:1

I want you to have a retrospective analysis of your life, of your business, of your family, of all that God has done for you unto this day. Do you have any reason to be grateful unto the Lord your God? The scripture says, a man can get nothing except it be given him from heaven. That you are alive and healthy is more than enough to thank God. A living dog is better than a dead lion. Even if you are sick, you should thank God that you are not dead. You have hope to be healed. There is nothing you have in this world that God Almighty has not given you. Are you rich? God is the reason why you are rich. Are you occupying position of power? God is the reason why you are there. Are you educated? God is the reason why you are educated. He gave you the privilege to be. There are millions of people more intelligent who never had the opportunity you had. Are you poor? Thank God because there are peoplethat want to be like you. In whatsoever situation you find yourself in life, whether good or bad, give thanks unto the Lord.

Thanksgiving: With a grateful heart, I say thank you Lord for all you have done for me.

Bible Reading: Psalm 146:1-10

Praise ye the Lord, Praise the Lord, O my soul. While I live will I sing praises unto my god while I have any being. Psalm 146 1-2

Praise is comely to God. It is his habitation. It is the food of the spirit. Where there is praise, there the presence and glory of God is. Praise is a sacrifice before God. It is good to pray, but it is better to praise. Praise must precede prayer for prayer to receive its deserved attention in heaven. Praise is thanksgiving, is appreciation, it is exaltation of the name of the Lord, while prayer is a demand. Praise has the inherent capacity to cause miracles to take place without prayer. Praise can bring healing, doors of prosperity, cause barren wombs to open.  Praise turns away the anger of God, and instead of punishment, come blessing. When you praise God he releases chariots of angels to take over your battles. We are admonished to praise God every day from the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same. The devil fears the praise of the saints more than prayer. When the sweet aroma of praise ascends to heaven, the glory of God descends on the kingdom of darkness.

Confession: Lord I will praise you as long as I have my breath

Bible Reading: Psalm 147:1-20

He delighted not in the strength of the horse; he taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man. Ps 147:10

I wish all ladies see the scripture above “… he taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man” Some ladies have classed themselves as special beauties with “hot legs.” Well, as hot as your legs may be, God does not take pleasure in your legs.  There is no physical feature that puts a person on advantage over the other person in the presence of the Creator.  That thing you think it’s a disadvantage or deficiency is only a creation of your mindset. You are what you think you are. Neither is God interested in the strength of the hose.  There are those that think they are stronger and smarter than others, looking at them closely, you will discover they are not always the most successful.  Joseph was the least in his family, yet he became the star.  David was also the despised last born, but grace chose him to be the head.  Daniel ate only pulse and water yet his appearance was the best.  Rehab was a prostitute yet she appeared in the heroes’ hall of fame. God will rather invest His grace on the weak because He will not share His glory with the strong.

Confession: My heart if fixed O Lord.
