WHAT TO REMEMBER

Bible Reading:  Psalm 74:1-23

Remember thy congregation, which thou hast purchased of old; the rod of thineinheritance, which thou hast redeemed; this mount Zion, wherein thou hast dwelt. Psalm 74:2

We give God the glory for making us witness the last month of this year.  It is the Lord’s mercies that saw us this far.  The enemy thought you will not see this month but behold you are alive and bouncing in the promises of God and hope of a better new year.  Come to think about it: Are we better than those that died this year?  Some are still lying down in critical conditions in hospitals.  A man that knows how to thank God will go far in life.  This month is a special one in every aspect.  Apart from being the last month of 2018, God has also been faithful to us.  There is absolutely no cause to panic.  The Lord has promised us peace.  Say those things that will only please God.   The Lord shall be your strength. It pays to trust in God.  Something beautiful is coming your way. God does not operate by popular opinions.  The blessings of God are only for those who will dare trust Him even against all odds.

Song: We are grateful O Lord x2. For all you have done for us, Hallelujah, we are grateful O lord.

Topic: THANKSGIVING

Text:  Psalm 136

O Give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever. Psalm 136:1

It can never be too much thanking God.  There is always a reason to give thanks to God.  Not only thanking Him but also giving praise as much as we can. There are so many benefits to gain from habitually thanking and praising God. Keep your numerous prayer requests aside, forget all your problems for now and focus on appreciating God.  The fact that you are able to see this day and alive all through the year is enough to give God thanks. You can imagine the number of people you know very well that passed on this year?  You are not better than them.

It is of His mercies that you are not consumed along with them.  To God be the glory! From our text this morning, reading from verses 11 through 15 you will be amazed of what God has in stock for you as you give Him praise. (Ps 92:11-15) Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me.  The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall row like a cedar in Lebanon.  Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.  They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing.  To show that the Lord is upright; he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.  Isn’t God wonderful and worthy of your praise?  Even if you are looking at your age thinking that you are too old to get married or give birth at that age He will visit you with miracle conception.  Don’t give up on any situation, your thanksgiving and praises will speak forth for you and you will know that indeed He is a God that can never fail.

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU THINK

As a man thinketh so is he. Proverbs 23:7

Even in this our physical world, mental labour is more valuable than manual or physical labour. That is why a young man that is just employed today as a graduate is paid more than an old man that has been working for 25 years without higher qualifications. Because mental labour has to do with thinking and thinking is the engine room of every action.  That is why the bible says “As you think in your mind so are you”. The quality of every human life is dependent on the quality of his thought, therefore, better life always begins with better thought. Our thought life is guided by the kind of information we take in, it may be the kind of films we watch, the kind of pictures we have on our phones, the kind of discussions we have with friends. If the information you feed your life with are bad, you will certainly have bad thoughts which will also impact your life negatively. Be careful what you think because your thought is equal to action.

Questions

1. Why is mental labour more valuable than physical labour?
2. What are the dangers of evil thoughts?

IT’S ALL ABOUT GOD

Bible Reading: Psalm 75:1-10

But God is the judge; He puteth down one, and setteth up another. Psalm 75:7

There are people that are not actually responsible for the conditions they are.  In the actual sense, no man should boast for his achievements.  If you are a wealthy or favoured person, there was nothing special you did that brought you to where you are today.  In the same vein, those that were born crippled or blind should not be blamed for their predicaments.  The voice of mercy is so strong in determining destinies.  Without mercy, your labour cannot yield fruits.  When mercy is at work, protocol is abandoned.  God will not consult people before blessing a man.  I pray for you this morning: Mercy will speak for you.  You will get that promotion, that contract and that favour, even though you are not qualified to get it.  You will labour less and get more.  The wind of favour will blow towards your direction.  Your feet will take you to the right places.  Forget what people say, this is all about God.  The sentiments of man do not alter the purpose and favour of God.  It is all about God.

Prayer Point: Lord I pray that your favour will locate me today in Jesus name.

DECEMBER 4

PRESENTABLE PRESENTS

Bible Reading:  Psalm 76:1-12

Vow, and pay unto the Lord your God; Let all that be around about Him bring presents unto Him that ought to be feared. Ps 76:11

First, we must know that our God is a God that ought to be feared.  This knowledge should direct us in the ways we relate to Him.  It is the fear of God that makes someonegive a worthy offering to the Lord.   Many Christians do not value God.  The way you give to God shows how much value and love you have for God.  We must change our giving habits.  As we approach the New Year, some internal changes need to take place.  If you continue to give to God the way you are used to, you will end up being in the same spot.  This is the right time to start planning for the New Year.  It is the changes we make that bring new results for the year.  You must ban yourself from giving some certain denominations to God during church offerings.  It takes determination to make a decision and after some time it becomes a way of life.  Most good things come with pain.  A seed has to die before the plant germinates.  Good offering must cost you something let giving becomes your lifestyle.

Prayer Point: Lord, give me the grace to make giving my life style.

DECEMBER 5

PROPHETIC GUIDE

Bible Reading: Psalm 77:11-20

Thou leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron. Ps 77:20

As we approach 2019, one thing is important: your success and victory in the New Year will largely depend on how much you make use of your prophetic compass.  Without a pastor, you instantly become a wanderer in the journey of life.  Whom you connect to matters a lot.  Recently, a female politician who happens to be a Muslim came to our meetings.  She had been in politics for twenty years without having anything to show for it.  Few months after she met me, her life changed, fortune smiled on her.  Also, a man who could not conceive his wife because his private organ was dead (so to say) came to our meetings, the power of God healed him, his wife conceived and last month, she gave birth to a baby boy.  The prophet is a   weapon of change, an instrument for direction and a tool for harvest.  Don’t walk like a sheep without a shepherd.  Make a New Year commitment that will facilitate your success.   Defects and dangers will be averted if divine guidance is applied.  Bless your pastor.   If you follow a successful man, you will obviously become successful too.

Prayer Point: Guide me O Great Jehovah.

DECEMBER 6

YOUR ENEMIES SHALL BE OVERWHELMED

Bible Reading: Psalm 78:1-72

And He led them on safety, so that they feared not: but the sea overwhelmed their enemies Ps 78:53

It is foolish to walk with popular opinion.  The victory in 2019 belongs to those who will put their trust in God.  When God leads a people, He leads them to safety.  In doing this, you must not be afraid.  Trust and fear do not go together.  If you trust God you cannot be afraid and if you are afraid you cannot trust God.  What God says about your life is what matters.  If the enemies think that it is business as usual, they are wrong.  I am glad to announce to you this morning that the game is over for your spoilers.  God that glorified Himself at the red sea is at work in your life.  The sea of God’s judgment will overwhelm the adversaries.  Sometimes because of the longsuffering of God, workers of iniquity think they can do anything they like.  Little did they know that they are standing on the time bomb of judgment.  In this New Year coming, you will no longer be the oppressed but the oppressor.  Your adversaries will suddenly become afraid of you.

Confession: If God be for me, no one can be against me.

DECEMBER 7

THE POWER OF PREPARATION

Bible Reading: Psalm 79:1-13

The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer. Proverb 30:25

The verse above is one of the few scriptures where an animal’s wisdom is used to give vital lesions to man.  As tiny, feeble and insignificant as ants are they have been able to keep the race alive via the use of proactive wisdom.  They make adequate preparation for the raining days.  The ants live in organized colonies where they have a king and a queen and several workers who do the work of storing up of food in the colony against the raining days.  Unfortunately, not every human being has that wisdom.  When preparation is despised, disaster becomes unavoidable.  The defeats occasioned by lack of preparation are more than the ills done by witchcraft.  Every failure has a cause and every success has a factor.  Life will not change for good until you make conscious effort to change it.  Positive confession without adequate, practical preparation is mere day dreaming.   Give priority attention to God this New Year coming.  Invest heavily in the work of God.

Prayer Point: Lord, give me wisdom to set my priorities right in this coming year.

DECEMBER 8

WHEN GOD SEEMS SILENT

Bible Reading: Psalm 80:1-19

O Lord God of hosts, how long will thou be angry against the prayer of thy people? Psalm 80:4

Indeed there are times when it seems as if God has turned His ears against our prayers.  You do all kinds of fire brand and marathon prayers yet the situation looks unchanged.  The fact is that God is faithful, He has promised never to leave us nor forsake us.  He is able to do all things.  He’s got the whole world in His Mighty Hands “Then why has God not answered my prayers” you may ask.  You must know that God does things according to His divine plan, pattern and timing.  He does not work by your time.  He makes all things beautiful in its time.  You have to understand the mind of God for you to discern His timing.  Also, what you called silence may just be His answer to your prayers.  Don’t think you can push God to a corner through your prayers.  Jesus prayed earnestly at Gethsemane that the cup of crucifixion would pass over Him.  His sweat became like blood, angel had to appear to strengthen Him yet He still drank of the cup.You should not stop praying even though you feel you are not seeing the results.

Prayer Point: O Lord, let your ears be attentive to may prayers.

DECEMBER 9

Topic: STAY FOCUSED

Text:James 1:6-8

Memory Verse:Do not turn aside to the right or to the left.  Walk in all the way that the Lord your God has commanded you. Deu 5:32

LOOK AHEAD: The simplest way to kill the dream of a man is to give him another one.  A man that goes for everything always ends up with nothing.  You must give God your attention for you to get his attention.  Avoid distractions because a double minded man cannot receive from God.  Paul’s strategy for life can be summed up in one line.  “But this one thing I do” Phil 3:18.  Do you know that love has no peripheral vision?  It cannot see right or left, only straight ahead.  What a picture?  Most failures in life arebecause of broken focus.

A DIVIDED ATTENTION: Matt 6:24

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other: or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.  Ye cannot serve God and mammon.  Elijah said unto the house of Israel…. How long shall ye be between two opinions, if the Lord be God, follow Him, but if Baal, then follow him…. 1 King 18:21.

Many people are not blessed in church today because they still go to Egypt for help.  Instead of being blessed they end up with curse because God is angry with them.  You cannot belong here and still visit one mountain for prayers.  Some people worship in a church, but their tithe is taken to one prayer house somewhere.  People like that should not expect anything from God.  It is only when you give God an undivided attention that you can receive from Him.

THE POWER OF TESTIMONY

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works.Psalm 26:7

Every genuine testimony carries enough power to produce another miracle. Miracles are good.  Healing, deliverance, financial breakthroughs are all good but if we don’t share or testify of His goodness upon our lives, we will be depriving others of their miracles and God will not be happy with us. Testimony builds faith and confidence in the mind of the people to trust God for their own miracle. It helps in preparing the mind of the people to receive. And they overcame him by the blood of the lamb and by the words of their testimonies. Testimony is a seal upon every miracle. To permanently put the devil away is to testify of God’s wondrous works upon your life. The devil hashigh chances of attacking you again if you don’t testify of God’s deliverance upon your life. Ten lepers were cleansed by God but only one return to testify and God asked him where are the nine?

Question:

1. Why is it necessary to testify of God’s doing in your life?
2. Share a testimony of what God has done in your life.

DECEMBER 10

OPEN THAT MOUTH

Bible Reading: Psalm 81:1-16

I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt; open thy mouth wide and I will fill it. Psalm 81:10

The mouth is not just a tool designed to put food into the stomach.  It is a weapon of warfare and an organ for creation.  The mouth is more of a spiritual weapon than a biological feature.  Unfortunately, many people have still not discovered the power embedded in the mouth.  You see them use their mouths carelessly, uttering words that are opposed to their well being.  Hear me out this morning; your destiny is in your mouth.  What your enemies say about you is only an opinion.  Witches cannot drag you down if your mouth is positively active.  God is expecting you to open your mouth. He will do nothing unless you open your mouth.  Your constant confession gives Him the obligation power to act on your behalf.  Don’t confess the possible only, declare the impossible. Refuse to walk by sight or common sense.   Expect and say good things about 2019.   Your blood shall not be wasted.  You will not die before your time.

Prayer Point: O Lord, my mouth will sing forth your praise for you are worthy of my praise.

DECEMBER 11

KNOW YOUR STATUS IN CHRIST

Bible Reading:  Psalm 82:1-8

I have said, ye are gods, and all of you are children of the Most High. Psalm 82:6

Ever before the earth was created, God had programmed man to have dominion over the earth and the fullness thereof, yes, over everything that has life in it, in the heavens, upon the earth and in the sea.  Dwelleth in man is the fullness of God’s Head.  There is no limit to man’s power and authority on earth.  Man by divine nature, is by far greater than all principality, all power, all might and dominion.  It is written, the fullness of God’s length, breadth, depth and height dwell in man.  His working mighty power is in man.  Man is the representative and the ambassador of God on earth.  We are children of the Most High, therefore, we are ‘gods’ on earth.  The only limitation of the fullness of God’s power in us on earth is ignorance of the provisions of the WORD. People perish for lack of knowledge.    Do you know that the devil is afraid of you?  Do you know that you are by far greater than him?  The earth is your inheritance in Christ Jesus, arise and possess your possession.

Prayer Point: I receive power from on high to dominate the gates of my enemies in Jesus name.

DECEMBER 12

AS THEY GATHER SO SHALL THEY SCATTER

Bible Reading: Psalm 83:1-17

For they have consulted together with one consent, they are confederate against thee.  Psalm 83:5

God said, they shall surely gather together, but whosoever shall gather together against you shall fall for your sake.  The Lord your God is He that created them that gather against you, He gave them power to produce instruments of war against you.  But He said, no weapon formed against you shall prosper.  WHY? Because He has given you sufficient power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.  You therefore have no reason to trouble yourself because of mischief workers who gather together against you.  They do not have the power to bring their mischief to pass.  If the enemy has the power to bring his desire over you to pass, you would have long been gone.  He that is in you is greater than they that gather against you. Any Egyptian in your life resisting the plan of God for your life is destroyed. He that says he will not let you go will go for you

.

Prayer Point: I destroy every power that will not let me be in Jesus name.

DECEMBER 13

THE ABUNDANCE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

Bible Reading: Psalm 84:1-12

The Lord God is a sun and shield, the Lord will give grace and glory, no good thing will he withhold from them that work upright. Ps 84:11

Working in obedience to the word of God, with a single eye and oneness of heart is the gateway to kingdom abundance. If you can surrender all things to Him, if you can say with all your heart, not my will, but let your will be done; the gates of hell that hold you bound have no choice but to open for you and let you go.  No power on earth strong enough to hold or snare a man who lives and works in the WORD, whose heart is set on the power of the WORD. Why? They that wait upon the Lord shall not be shamed.  They shall mount up with wings as eagles.  They fly high in his grace and glory.  Their doors are continually opened.  Mercy and favour is their trade mark.  They sit and dine with kings and princes through divine connection.  In your righteousness, possess your possession.  If you want to end this year in miracle, seek God until you find Him.  I see God giving you a big testimony before the end of this year.  If you believe, receive it in Jesus name.

Prayer Point: Lord, I receive power to live a life of abundance in Christ Jesus.

DECEMBER 14

THE UNLIMITED MERCY OF AN UNLIMITED GOD

Bible Reading: Psalm 85:1-13

Show us thy mercy, O Lord, and grant us your salvation.  Psalm 85:7

Mercy is the undeserved love, blessing, kindness and lifting up of God.  It is His unmerited presence.  Every sphere of man on earth is a function of God’s mercy.  Salvation is a fruit of God’s mercy.  Mankind was doomed to total destruction in hell until the mercy of God came through Jesus Christ.  The scripture tells us that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. The sin of Adam brought condemnation to all mankind.  But His love culminated to mercy, and mercy metamorphosed to forgiveness and forgiveness gave birth to salvation.  Salvation opened the gates of heaven and reconciled us with the Father, making us qualify to partake in the unlimited blessing and abundance of heaven, even as sons of God and co-heirs with Jesus in the inheritance of the heritage of heaven.  His mercy has given us power and authority over Satan, over the kingdom of darkness.  Everything we enjoy on earth today, good health, peace, love, prosperity name it are all because of His unlimited mercy.

Prayer Point: O Lord, let your mercy speak for me.

DECEMBER 15

PRAYER IS THE KEY

Bible Reading: Psalm 86:1-17

In the day of my trouble, I will call upon thee, for thou will answer me. Ps 86:7

Prayer answereth all things.  It is a strong communication between God and mankind.  God can do nothing on earth for humanity until somebody prays.  It is the flight that runs between heaven and earth.  It is the earth and present before the throne of grace for consideration and approval.  It is the only divine method of asking and receiving from heaven.  Nothing ever happens until prayer is made.  No wonder Jesus said, “Ask and you shall be given to you, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you. Only prayer can open the gates of heaven.  Whatsoever you desire in life, if you can pray, you can have it.  The more your prayers, the more  your blessing, the more your breakthrough.  The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.  There is no impossibility or limitation in the place of prayer.  The only thing that devil fears on earth is the effectual fervent prayer of the saints.  When prayer is persistently made, the kingdom of darkness trembles, chains are loosed, yokes are broken and prison gates are opened.

Prayer Point: Lord give me the grace to pray in season and out of season in Jesus name.

DECEMBER 16

Topic: GOD’S EXPECTATION FROM HIS PEOPLE

Text:Jeremiah 35:1-9

Memory Verse:Will ye not receive instruction to hearken to my words? Saith the Lord.  Jeremiah 25:13

GOD’S CONTROVERSY WITH HIS PEOPLE: Hosea 12:2, Micah 6:2-5, Isaiah 5:1-4

God has controversy with His children for sliding back into sin.  He has controversy with all the inhabitants of the earth who do not honour Him as their Creator.  Idol worshippers are known to stick to their gods.  Whatever they are forbidden by their gods, through their priest, they obey religiously.  Though they serve dead gods, they hardly change like Israel had done in turning away from the living God to dead gods.  Like Israel, some believer’s zeal and commitment are flagging.  Idol worshippers are more faithful, committee and loyal to their gods than they are to the Lord.  If idol worshippers could be so dedicated, the believers for whom Jesus died for should not be less dedicated.

Apostle Paul also expressed this divine controversy with the New Testament church in Galatia.  He was surprised that these believers did not continue to obey and to faithfully keep the truth they once received.  He however told them that those who are luring them from the truth they once believed want to ruin their spiritual lives.  So, the Lord has a controversy with everyone who disobeys or lives contrary to His word.

GOD’S COMPASSION FOR THE PENIENT: Prov 28:13, Micah 7:18,19, Joel 2:12,13.

All that the sinner or backslider requires to experience God’s compassion is to turn away from his sins and backsliding.  This is because God has promised that He will pardon and blot out those sins if they only turn away from them.  Therefore, the sinner or backslider has no excuse for spending another day in sin or in a state of backsliding.  He should come to Christ and experience rest.  As the sinner repents and the backslider returns, God will have compassion on them.  Like the prodigal son, they should acknowledge their sinfulness, arise and return to the father who is ever willing to receive them and have compassion on them.  And there will be joy among the angels in heaven as a result of their salvation and restoration.

DO THE RIGHT THINGS ALWAYS

Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Matt 24:46

It is important that we should live the life of Christ always.  A child of God should do the things which please God always.  This is because the Lord’s coming is at hand.  His coming will be sudden and unexpected.  What will you be doing when He comes?  Will He find you going out for evangelism or will you be found on the seat of the scornful?  Will He find you in church or in beer parlour?  Imagine two disobedient members of a church, an unmannered brother and a sister just finished defying themselves on the bed of sin and the rapture takes place?  Certainly you will want to say “God forbids” but there are church members that the Lord will find doing some nasty things when He comes back.  Let us do the right things always.  We should be conscious of this fact always.  Get used to God.  Do God’s work.  Live the right life.  Give to support the work of God.  Determine not to defy your body which is the temple of the Holy Spirit in you.  Grace is useless without our actions.  Do not be found wanting on the last days. Be prepared.

QUESTION:

Can we permanently overcome sin?

DECEMBER 17

BUILDING UPON SOLID FOUNDATION

Bible Reading: Psalm 87:1-7

The foundation is in the Holy Mountains. Psalm 87:1

The strength of every building is dependent upon its foundation.  Speaking in the same vein, Jesus said a house built on sand, the rain comes and floods it away; but the one constructed upon the Rock shall stand strong because its foundation is firm and unmoveable.  Jesus is the Rock while the sand represents the lust of the flesh, the love of the world.  Jesus is the Holy Mountain.  As nothing can move a mountain, nothing can shake a man whose foundation is rooted in Christ.  All things in heaven and on earth consist in Him and you of Him cometh all things.  No wonder God said, “If the foundations be destroyed what can the righteous do?  Righteousness outside Christ is deceit and foolishness.  As a believer, how strong and durable is your foundation?  Are you building on sand or upon the Rock?   Every human being has a foundation. Everyone has a building, our works on earth.  We are either building on the sand or on the Rock.  Where we build, and how we build it is a decision.

Prayer Point: Heavenly Father, I receive grace to stand on the Solid Rock which is Jesus Christ.

DECEMBER 18

PERSEVERANCE THE LADDER TO THE TOP

Bible Reading: Psalm 88:1-18

The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. James 5:16B

Every success is a function of perseverance in doing what you believe in even in the face of obvious difficulties and challenges, that may sometimes cause discouragement and frustration, suggesting that this thing is impossible.  When you persist in your goal, in your endeavour, when you refuse to give in when you refuse to turn back even when people tell you that this thing cannot work; as long as you can see it and believe that it  is possible, heaven begins to unfold your dream, your expectation, removing all obstacles, hindrances and limitations, to actualize your believe.  Those that refuse to give off, get up and up until they get to the top.  It is written that you shall be head and not tail, you shall be on top only and not beneath.  This covenant is not for the lazy, it is not for those that cannot endure challenges, it is not for those that have alternative, who are not patient to wait upon the Lord.  Job said, “All the days of my appointed time will I wait until my change comes.”  The eyes of the Lord are upon them that wait upon Him.

Prayer Point:  I will patiently wait on God until my change comes in Jesus name.

DECEMBER 19

THE FAITHFULNESS OF A FAITFUL GOD

Bible Reading:  Psalm 89:1-52

My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips. Psalm 89:34

What God has purposed and ordained in heaven concerning you on earth is permanent.  God is not a man that he should lie.  There is no authority in heaven or on earth that can prevail over the Lord your God to stop Him from performing His word.  What He said He will do, He will do.  But it takes covenant to operate a covenant.  The only way you can make the promise of God operational in your life, in your family, in your business, is to work in covenant with Him.  How?  By working according to His will, by walking in His commandments, being obedient to the word; living a righteous life.  The scriptures say ”The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and His ears are open unto their cry.”  Every covenant is an agreement between two parties.  It takes two to operate.  A covenant is binding only when the two parties play their parts of the contract.  When you keep your covenant with him He keeps His and when you are faithful He also will be faithful to you.

Prayer Point: My Covenant Keeping God let your faithfulness speak for me.

DECEMBER 20

WHERE CAN WE HIDE FROM HIM?

Bible reading: Psalm 90:1-17

Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.  Psalm 90:8

The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and they that dwell therein.  He has founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.  Where can we hide from him?  He knows all the fouls of air and everything that flies above the sea.  He knows every beast of earth, and every creeping that creeps upon the earth.  He knows all the fish of the sea and everything that passes through the paths of the sea.  He knows all the stars of the firmament by their names.  He is the Lord of the living and the dead.  He created darkness and light.  He is the God of the visible and the invisible, the God of the highest height and the deepest depth.  Where can we hide from Him?  He knows our going out and our coming in.  He knows every thought and every plan of man.   All secret things it is written belong to Him.  Like the brightness of the sun before Him.  Secret is just the imagination of the devil, a deception from the pit of hell.  Turn from your secret deeds and seek the face of God before it is too late.

Prayer Point: Cleanse me Lord from my secret sins

DECEMBER 21

THE SECRET PATH INTO GOD’S HEART

Bible Reading: Psalm 91:16

Because he has set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him.  I will set him on high because he has known my name.  Psalm 91:14

Love is the perfume of God.  Because He is love, His habitation is love and His food is love.  Therefore His heart is attracted to everyone whose heart is full of love.  The scripture says, “Eyes have not seen, no ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for them that love Him (1 Cor 2:9)” The greatest commandment of God unto man for Him and for mankind is love. Jesus said, “Thou shall love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.  This is the first and great commandment.  And the second is like unto it, thou shall love thy neighbor as thyself.  On these two commandments hang all the laws and the prophets.   Every word of God is rooted upon love.  Without love, you can’t get anything from God.  Your righteousness without the love of your neighbor is a filthy rag before the Lord.  If you say you love God and hate your neighbor, hate your brother, the Lord said, “You are a liar.”

Prayer Point: Let the love of Christ dwell

DECEMBER 22

APPRECIATING GOD

Bible Reading:   Psalm 92:1-15

It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High. Psalm 92:1

There are so many benefits to gain from habitually appreciating and praising God. Keep your numerous prayer requests aside, forget all your problems for now and focus on appreciating God.  The fact that you are able to see this day and alive all through the year is enough to give God thanks. You can imagine the number of people you know very well that passed on this year?  You are not better than them. Even if you are looking at your age thinking that you are too old to get married or give birth, even at that age he will visit you with miracle conception.  Don’t give up on any situation as you continue to appreciate Him for His past deeds in your life He will continue to do more.

Prayer Point: Lord I appreciate you for all you have done in my life.

Topic:    THE PURPOSE OF CHRISTMAS

Text:      Matthew 2:11

Memory Verse: Saying where is he that is born King of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.  Matt 2:2

WRONG WAY TO CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS

Christmas celebrations have been abused by so many people in the church today.  Many have concentrated their energy and resources on what to eat what to wear and places to go for merriment, a lot of girls lost their virginity within this season all in the name of celebration, young boys becoming drunkard and smokers, women developing a bitter relationship with their husbands because of Christmas celebration.  Eating, drinking and wearing good cloth is good it helps in adding colour to the Christmas celebration but it is not the reason for which we celebrate the birth of Christ. There was no record of any of those things in the bible so please don’t develop high blood pressure because of them.

CHRISTIAN WAY OF CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS

The number one reason why the wise men journeyed through the night in search for the new born King was to worship.  They use these words: “For we have seen his star in the east and are come to worship him. Matt 2:2.  When they finally saw him in verse eleven of the same chapter, bible says they bow down and worshipped him.  The wise men acknowledged God as the King and Saviour of the world.  The first thing that every Christian is expected to do on Christmas day is to come to church for worship.  ….. andwhen they had opened their treasures they presented unto him gifts” Matt 2:11.  The second thing they did was the presentation of gifts.  They shared their treasures with the King.  Christmas is a season of sharing, is a season for the expression of our love for God and humanity.  Make effort to be a blessing to someone this Christmas.  What interested me is that it was their valuable substance that they presented to him, this means that they held him in high honour.

HOW TO OVERCOME ENVY

For he knew that for envy they had delivered him. Matt 27:18

When Jesus was sent to Pilate for judgment, the governor knew that the Chief priests and Pharisees were only acting on envy, they were threatened by the rising profile of Jesus in Israel.  Even when Pilate made an attempt to release Jesus, His adversaries demanded for the release of criminal Barnabas instead.  See what envy can do?  An envious person is a scorpion in human form.  Envy is a deadly spirit that cannot stand to see the success of others.  Separate from a friend that is envious of you.  However, here are some tips to overcome envy:

Let the love of God rule in your heart

Love your neighbor as yourself

Assure yourself that everyone has his/her own time to be blessed.

Believe that what God did for others, He will do for you also, even in a greater way.

See the success of your friends as your own success

Be content with what you have

Don’t compete with anyone

Deliberately become friendly and close to a perceived rival.

Question

Mention some ways to avoid envy.

DO NOT BE AFRAID

Bible Reading: Psalm 93:1-5

The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty wave of the sea. Psalm 93:4

This indeed is a perilous time, a time you hear a lot of evil reports flying about.  Crises here and there, people die anyhow. Sicknesses and afflictions  that are befalling people are on the increase. The devil may invent new sicknesses but none shall come near your dwelling.  The one you are passing though now will not kill you because by His stripes you are made whole.  To die by accident is not your portion.  Your going out and coming in is secured in Christ. This is a time to be closer to God than ever.  This is a time to serve Him more than ever before.  You cannot be in the business of your Father and will not take care of you and your loved ones.  Some people are already spending sleepless nights thinking about the elections of next year.  They live a life of insecurity and fear.  I have a comforting word for you this morning.  The Lord your God is with you as a mighty terrible one, whichever way the enemy may come to attack you, God almighty will lift a standard against them.

Confession: God is with me as a mighty terrible one, therefore I shall not be afraid what man can do to me.

THE SAVIOUR IN THE MANGER

Bible Reading: Luke 2:1-52

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shall call his name JESUS; for he shall save His people from their sins.  Matt 1:21

Everything that surrounded the birth of Jesus was dramatic and spectacular.  First, a virgin woman became pregnant and still retained her virginity.  Mary and Joseph had to journey to Bethlehem, the city of David for taxation and for lack of space in the inn,He was delivered in a manger.  The angel of the Lord announced His birth to the shepherds.  Multitudes of angels appeared, giving glory to God saying “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth, peace, good will toward men.”  Three wise men had to trace a guiding star from the east to the place where the baby Saviour was wrapped.  They presented Him with gifts; gold, frankincense and myrrh symbolizing their accepting Him as King and priest.  There was joy in Heaven and celebration on earth.  Angels celebrated Jesus birth more than men because they knew that the Son of God, the Saviour of the world, the Lamb of God had just been delivered into the world for the redemption of man.  The literal meaning of Jesus is ‘Saviour’.  He came to save mankind from the terror of sin, Satan and hell.  His birth is the birth of our hope.  His humble birth exemplified the life He came to live.  In this season, we need to humble ourselves and identify with those in the manger, the orphans, the widows, the needy, hungry and destitute.  Let us not celebrate today in eating, drinking and visiting alone, we should put our sins, our pride and ego and put them in the manger because that is where the journey to the cross begins.  This is also an encouragement to those in a low level of life, those struggling to survive in the tunnel of life that one day they will rise to the top.  You are only passing through the manger phase. Very soon the world will celebrate you.  Wishing you all a Merry Christmas

NOT BOXING DAY ALONE

Bible Reading: Romans 12:1-21

As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.  Gal 6:10

Boxing Day is globally accepted and celebrated as a day for exchange of gifts and pleasantries.  It’s a day most people visit their loved ones, families going out for fun, amusement parks usually are busiest on this day.   But the issue is: Must we wait for the Boxing Day to give someone a gift.  Can’t pleasantries be exchanged on any other day?  Can’t we make putting smile on someone face our everyday occupation?  Our text above advises us to seize every opportunity to do good to everyone.  There are many ways you can put a smile on someone’s face.  Courtesy and appreciation have stronger effects on the mind. Good words are gifts.  Treat everyone, including your domestic servants with courtesy because they are creatures of God.  There is no perfect person but you can encourage someone to strive to be better by using good words on them.  Love is stronger than witchcraft.  Love conquers the world.  Have a good, genuine mind towards your neighbour.  Don’t wait for the Boxing Day before giving someone a gift.  Be a minister of goodwill to anyone that comes your way every day.

GOD WILL JUDGE THE WICKED

Bible Reading: Psalm 94:1-23

O Lord God, to whom vengeance belongeh; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, show thyself. Psalm 94:1

God will avenge you of your enemies, for vengeance is of the Lord.  It is not in your power to pay evil for evil or an eye for an eye.  Devil is a wicked being so are his cohorts.  The devil may use your neighbor or your relation to torment and afflict you making life so hard and miserable for you.  In your fury you may want to fight back, my dear you cannot succeed by the arms of the flesh.  We wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities and against powers.  Therefore you must arm yourself with the amour of God.  Equip yourself with the word of God, which is two edged sword and will cut to pieces every arrow of the wicked ones against you. Always be in fellowship with the brethren.  You must also pray without ceasing.  Most importantly, always give thanks to God and sing praises unto His Holy name.  God has seen what you have suffered in the hands of the wicked and He shall arise and fight for you.  Not only will He fight for you He will judge your enemies.

O Lord, trouble them that trouble me in Jesus name.

DON’T ENVY THEM

Bible Reading: Psalm 95:1-11

Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest. Psalm 95:11

Have you ever looked at some sinners and admired them for their seeming prosperity?  Sometimes you are tempted to assume that your service to God is in vain.  The unbelievers seem to have short cuts to everything in life.  You see a Christian spinster who has been trying to keep her body free from sexual immorality getting aged without a marital suitor hooking her up while the promiscuous lady who used to jump from one car to the other, sleeping around with men is now married with children.  When you see the manner some of these sinners flaunt their wealth you will want to pity yourself.   This type of temptation is rampant.  Knowledge is the best approach here.  What you know about God, life and eternity matters here.   The greatest asset in life is Jesus.   Those wealthy sinners you envy are equally envious of you because you have got what they don’t have. Some have sold their souls to the devil to acquire wealth and power, getting close to them you will discover they are not happy.  Please don’t envy them.

Prayer Point: Lord let me not be an object of pity in Jesus name.

A NEW SONG

Bible Reading: Psalm 96:1-3

O sing unto the LORD a new song, sing unto the LORD, all the earth. Psalm 96:1

If the LORD desires from us a new song, it is very wise then that we sing a new song to everything around us. It may not be that something was wrong with the old song but it is time to move on. A new song signifies new beginning, new expectation, new values. Don’t sing an old song in a new year. We must deliberately see good things, think good things and say good things. Use your mouth well this year. Don’t join the majority in confessing doom. The problem many people have is that they talk based on what they see or hear. The 10 unwise spies actually saw giants and they confessed giants limiting themselves to mere grasshoppers. In Genesis chapter one, GOD saw darkness, confusion and disorder but HE said: “Let there be light”. Of course light came. It is fear and unbelief that make people confess evil realities. Say good things about yourself this year. In the midst of tension and panic, you will be buying lands and building houses. GOD has an opinion on every matter. It is what GOD says about your life that matters. Change your confession. Assert your authority over the affairs of life.

Prayer Point: God almighty is doing a new thing in my Life in Jesus name.

GOD IS STILL IN CONTROL

Bible reading: Ps. 97:1-2

The lord reigneth; let the earth rejoice, let the multitude of Isles be glad thereof Ps. 97:1

I am glad to remind you this morning that GOD is still in control. He is perfectly in charge. He cannot be dethroned. His authority is firmly established in Heaven and in the affairs of men. It is an error of ignorance to think that Satan is in control of this world. The Bible only described Satan as “… the god of this world” (2 Cor. 4:4). The devil is just a spiritual faction leader, a disgraced warlord who wants to claim what he is not. All powers in Heaven and on earth have been given to Jesus. These powers include spiritual power, governmental power, monetary/economic power, military, scientific power etc. Even the wild animals submit to the authority of Jesus. Death and sicknesses bow to the name of Jesus.”Who is he that saith a thing and it cometh to pass if the LORD has not commandeth it? (Lam.3:37) Stop being afraid of evil powers. No weapon can penetrate you without Heaven’s permission. Even if you are in a place where bomb is planted, it won’t explode when you are there

Prayer Point: I decree that my leg will not take me to where there is danger.

THANK GOD WE MADE IT

Bible Reading: Psalm 98

O sing unto the Lord a new song, for he hath done marvelous things; his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory. Psalm 98:1

Praise God! It is a thing of great joy that we made it to the end of the year. What a privilege.  We have been through high ways even at odd hours but God did not allow us to be involved in any accident.  Today we are healthy as fiddle.  What about those that gained admission to higher institutions and those that graduated successfully.  They are the Lord’s doing. We give God all the praise.  Come to think of it, is it by our power or might, is it because of our faithfulness? No.  The scripture says “So then it is not of him that willeth nor of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy (Rom 9:16).  We are not better than those that are dead and long forgotten neither are we more righteous than them.  We cannot pay God enough for all His loving kindness, all His benefits towards us despite all our short coming .  The Lord who wroth these mighty deeds in our midst and in our lives may His name alone be praised forever.  Because of His goodness towards us, we are crossing over to 2019 with confidence.

Activity: Let’s appreciate Him for every good thing we have received from Him this year.
